Pinion angle
I have a drivetrain vibration with my cd009 vq transmission swapped 2013. I have 600hp driveshaft shop axles, and the PST carbon fiber driveshaft that came with the transmission kit. One of the axles has issues, it is slinging a lot of grease out of the outer cv boot. The vibration only reveals itself above 70mph. I am swapping back stock ads for now, to try and eliminate that as a possibility and to get DS shop to deal with the grease issue. (Still awaiting their reply as I just messaged them). My question is about pinion angle. It is very difficult to compare the transmission output angle to differential pinion angle, but that could cause my vibration. Is there a way to adjust pinion angle on our cars? Please advise!

Both ring and pinion gears are shimmed to position axially but they are fixed in angle perpendicular to each other.
You should be able to identify the source of the vibration by its frequency. Does it follow wheel speed, or driveshaft speed? https://demos.starbase7.net/t3Portal...00O5A01DX.html

So I put the stock axles back on, no difference. I suspect that my pinion angle does not mirror the transmission output shaft angle. Gotta figure out how to address that now.

Ok, that's a new term for me. Do you have any reason to believe your pinion gear is no longer coaxial with your output shaft?

I'll guess that the vibration is caused by your car's driveshaft being out of balance ..
Is your new CF driveshaft a single piece or two piece? humfrz |

IIRC, the Mazworks kit is a single-piece but OP did not specify which kit he used. The other kits I found are steel shafts.

Maybe you got the height wrong when you got the trans mount welded in?

Yes MazWerks kit. There is really not enough room to manipulate the transmission much. The overpipe will hit either the body of th car or the sway bar. I tried to just match the original engine angle. Trying to measure the transmission output angle is difficult due to lack of room. I will pull the driveshaft soon and use the end of the transmission shaft to measure.

And it is a one piece carbon fiber driveshaft

Have you tried clocking the driveshaft 180 degrees?

Interesting idea. For the sake of description, if the driveshaft's axis of rotation is lined up with an imaginary z-axis, it is symmetrical about the x and y planes. In my head, that means clocking angle would have no effect. Am I missing something?

Also, do you have a local shop that can verify the integrity of your new driveshaft?
