I went to my Toyota dealer. They did a flawless job with my Konig wheels and 245 tires.

LOL, that's exactly the kind of shop I'd put at the top of my list.
$1600 for a wheel ?!

Gotta pay to play. Why do you care how people choose to spend their money?

1600$ for a set. Not per wheel. I have the same wheels and they are only about 400$ each. Honestly thats pretty standard for a good wheel.

I actually had a Honda dealer do my Advan RG3's as I had checked out a few shops and the Honda dealer had the newest tire machine with all the protective plastic rollers etc.
The Firestone near my house I walked in and walked right out again, their tire machine looked like something from the 50's.

Most of the shops near me won't install tires with a lower profile than a 50 series. I'd love to get them balanced with a Hunter Road Force machine but the only one in the immediate area is at the Ford dealer on my corner and they won't even consider it because 45 series The place I go to makes me sign a waiver that they won't be responsible for wheel damage. I gotta find a new tire place.

Find a shop that does big rigs and tractor trailer tires. My 04 STi BBS don't ever touch a machine while mounting 225/45 RE71R's, which straight up broke a machine at a nearby shop.. He laughs and makes OSHA jokes while he does it.

Use Tirerack search

https://www.tirerack.com/content/tir...tallation.html

Once you put in your zip code, click on advanced search and then click on Road force balance. It will give you the shops around you with road force balancers. Once you click on a shop it will show you the tire aspects they will do. This is how I ended up at a Honda dealer, and was very happy with them.

In other words, their machines are out-of-date or and/or their employees are not competent enough to do it.

My suggestion: don't even bother requesting a different tech.
Two incompetents don't make one competent.
Just take your new rim & tire, thank the manager for replacing it, and find another shop.

Seriously.... paper towels? Thank you, that made my day lol

Last time I went to a Pepboys to get tires installed my car was vibrating. This was on steel wheels with hubcaps for a 2007 Corolla. Ever since then I take it to my loyal mechanic that is 10min. away from my house.
