That is my point. If the car doesn't have the ground clearance you won't be able to without having it on a lift or ramps.

are these fumoto valve pretty solid for build?

I would hate to throw one on and have it leak within a few years

I don't know about getting one of these fumoto valve with the nipple if you are going to lower the car more since it looks like the nipples do stick out under the car

Actually they don't stick out, it wont affect ground clearance, at least that's the case for my car... don't know about the 86. And they seem to be quality built

A real corker - If life is simply a process of trying to keep your hands clean, this little gadget from Japan will help. It replaces your oil drain plug and has a spring-loaded valve so you can drop the dirty lube quickly and without tools. We put a sample valve through the Auto Week stress-test and discovered that the valve was a quality built item, the polished valve and tight seals, and a locking feature. It withstood many hours of opening and closing. - "AutoWeek Magazine"

When you work at a dealership, you see all the "mistakes" the lube techs and techs might and sometimes do mess up. I don't want my car with anyone except me if I can do the change.

I put my car in the garage and grab some jacks to lift it in the air just a bit to get under. Then I change my synthetic(Amsoil and I rotate my tires every other change. I know I should rotate them every time but I am at 38,800(ish) miles and my thread is still pretty good. It looks like another 6-7 months left on the thread on my tires til I got to get them replace.

I've had my share of bad experiences at lube shops. Half-assed attempts to wash my windows with oily rags, unwanted washer fluids, loose drain plugs, and one time the guy yanked the parking brake and screeched my car back to me. Another time the oil nozzle got jammed in so hard it bent a flange under the valve cover and was rubbing on a lifter. Those are just MY examples, I've heard plenty more horror stories. With $5000+ of engine at stake and no clear way to prove that a shop caused the damage, I'll continue to change my own oil, thank you.

You should stop the the Break-in Procedure thread in the Engine subforum, we could use input on topics like "break-in oil".

As always make sure you only use it on level surfaces.
Thanks for the input.

I change my own oil because I like the satisfaction of knowing that everything has been done completely correctly, and with the high-quality components I specify.
