Afr bung on overpipe

I will be doing my sprintex install soon and am going to run an afr gauge. I need to know if it matters to have the bung welded on the header after the secondary 02 sensor or can I have it welded on my overpipe. I have already had my header ceramic coated didn't want to have to redo it. I didn't know if that location close up toward the front of the over pipe and not on the header, would alter the afr numbers or not. Thx in advance. Steve

Do you have a cat in your header? If not, then you'll be fine to place it there.

You can, but be warned that you will have virtually no access to it.

Much better to have it on the front end of the front pipe.

You could but that would be a tight fit. The best place for it is on the front pipe close to the over pipe.

I had the AFR bung in my overpipe and it was easily accessible and visible from right by the battery. I wish I had pictures.

I know which part of the car you're talking about, and yes you can easily access it... just a hell of a lot easier if it was under the car, esp if the bolt becomes difficult to take out.

Yea I am running the Gruppe-s uel no cat header. Invidia overpipe, Berk highflow cat front pipe and the q300 cat back. I have the overpipe and header Cericoated. I was just looking down like you had said and it looked like I had room on the overpipe. But if it would still give me an accurate reading there is plenty of room on the front pipe before the cat. So to be clear as long as I installed it in front of the high flow cat on the front pipe I will be ok? and again thanks for all of your help and support I get from the forum. Thx Steve

Do you still have the secondary cat? You could mount the bung downstream of that and make an extension cord.

That's what I'm planning on doing.

I do. I am running the Berk High flow catted front pipe. I get it now Ultra, for it to read the mixture for the af meter it has to be after the cat. in my case since the one is not in the header it has to be the secondary. I think I have that correct. Hell I am confusing myself now (Ha) It doesn't take much anymore. thx partner

You can retain the cat-efficiency measurement function that way. Legit in the spirit of the exercise. I'm planning on keeping my OEM front pipe.
