not sure if anyone has run into this issue. but I had a recent track day and had a sputter and car pretty much lost all power and felt like a slower than stock motor. checked the data and afr and knock looked fine. long story short after messing around I just decided to clean the MAF while I had it off trying to find something obvious. after I cleaned it the car came back to life. the only thing I could think of is the air filter had too much oil on it out of the box and over time got onto the maf because right after cleaning it the car like it should have.

Could it just have been the connections of the MAF? I had this on someone's Sprintex, the MAF readings were jumping about. Just a quick reseat of the connector sorted it. It's unlikely that oil would cause such an instant switch in performance.

New catback - need tune?

Hey guys,

I've had my edelbrock for a few months now - love it. But I hate my n1 catback, way too much drone!

If I swap to a different catback with the same 2.5" piping size, do I need to retune? Currently on a custom dyno tune from drift office.

No need for a retune, only if you are getting headers.

Check out the new CSG x MXP exhaust or the Ace laguna 90 or 100. 👍🏼

No, you do not need a retune. Only if you replace headers as big fat said.

No need for a catback exhaust.

hard to say really cuz I had to disconnect it when I cleaned it obviously but I was getting some partial throttle cruising hiccups too before that but full throttle always felt fine and data looked ok on logs. haven't drove it but the couple miles after it cleared up from work to home. ill put some more miles on it this weekend and see how it feels.

I use my Edelbrock equipped BRZ as a daily driver. This is a superb mod if you can afford it. Transforms the car from a toy to a serious machine.

Fuel economy deteriorates by about 30% which is a surprise. Basically, this mod uses almost as much fuel as the same Supercharger on my 2013 Jaguar XF awd of 3.0 litres displacement. That's really not believable.

13.7 l/100 km compared to about 10. US mpg is around 24 mpg.

For reference...admittedly, I use my car for commuting most of the time, but I got 29.9 mpg with the Edelbrock with CARB Tune and 28.8 with Delicious tune v.21.0.

I'm seeing about the same.

On e-85 I'm usually around 21mpg.

I wasn't getting 28 mpg with no Supercharger. That would be around 8 l/100 km which would be highway only mileage for me. Perhaps it's just the way I drive that's the problem.

Those are California interstate mpg numbers.

Now, on the weekends, I'm looking at 21mpg on 91 and probably 15mpg on E-85

There is so many variables to gas mileage that it really is not comparable. Tires and outside temperature are the two biggest.
