This is a very real formula/ recipe for success, that takes the confusion out of the minds of consumers. In todays marketplace.... maybe more complicated = more better. I dunno. More variation out there.... so that no two people with in a square mile of each other are likely to have the exact same vehicle. A need to be unique.

Maybe I missed it in this thread, but why is no one talking about this part?

In his interview with Automotive News, Tomoyama also revealed that GR will eventually develop a standalone sports car. Tomoyama didn’t reveal any additional details on the sports car, though we know it won’t be Toyota’s new Supra which is coming soon.

“We are taking the challenge of adopting new tastes created in this process to stock cars as much as possible,” Tomoyama said. “In its next phase, we will get a designated sports car platform and eventually—finally—we want to introduce a pure, genuine sports car which can compete against top-class world competitors.”

Maybe we will see a new RWD Celica? Preferably something with a manual transmission since it looks like the Supra will be automatic only.

Unfortunately the Celica lost its popularity in the last gen, so bringing back that name may not work in Toyota's favor...but then again, if they only offer the Supra in automatic only, that too will not work in their favor and will then tarnish the Supra name.

Something makes me think they're using the Yaris GRMN as a test to see how they'll do with tuning existing Toyota engines and maybe chassis (since Toyota is shifting to the TNGA, they could sell the patent/rights to that chassis?).

I am really liking the single exhaust pipe. I know I can say things people don't like, but...
Toyota needs to get a "sportscar" persona again. The problem IMO has always been "sticking with it". Mazda sticks with it... The MR2 has come and gone and come and gone. Same w/Celica and Celica Supra (AKA "supra").

In my (crazy) mind I see the Yaris as a continuation of Corolla (think 1975) and the FRS as a Celica. Whatever they do I hope they succeed. (Just please stop with the SUVs, giant (small?) trucks and NASCAR)
All of this is just my opinion and has no basis in fact.

Yes, I think so.
