Hello, and.. Toyota Incentive History?

First off, hello everyone! I just joined up because I have been searching for an 86 for a while now and wanted to get to know the community here better. I have been a Toyota guy for most of my driving days and currently have an 06 Tacoma and an 88 Pickup.

I am looking to sell my Tacoma and switch over to an 86 for my daily activities and was curious what the incentives look like over the course of a year. I am going to hold off on my purchase until the 2018s come out (hopefully with the GT package for the upgraded interior). The current $2000 off, or 0% APR is nice, and I want to know more about how they fluctuate over the course of the year or if this is uncommon. Trying to get a better idea of what to expect if I wait till mid next year.

I have tried searching around for what past months incentives have looked like but having a lot harder time than I would have expected getting the info I want.

Should I expect to see similar incentives next year as to what they are right now? I went to look at a few 86 Special editions (TRD exhaust, manual trans) over the weekend and the best price I could get two dealers was 26k before taxes and fees. Is that a decent price, should I be happy paying that next year for a 2018 with GT package assuming that comes through?

A lot of questions I know, any insight is appreciated!

Not sure about about incentives but $26k is a good price. A lot of them sit just under/at/slightly over $30k

Slammillionaire, thanks a bunch for your input. I felt comfortable with the 26k price.

Just to be clear it was 26k including the $2000 rebate on a 2017 86 860 w/ manual trans and TRD exhaust already installed.

Would love to hear from anyone who has purchased one new in the last year or two what if any incentives were active when you purchased.

I guess what I am hoping is that next year I can get one for 25k without the exhaust.

I got a recent graduate discount applied, since I had graduated from college within 2 years of purchasing. I also got a discount for a family member working at Toyota, which worked out close to 2 or 2.5k.

I'm not sure anyone (including Toyota) can accurately predict future discounts and incentives on any particular automobile.

However, maybe some folks can .......

That is understandable humfrz, just trying to get a sense for if there has been any noticeable pattern to the incentives that are offered over the years. Hopefully that makes sense

After they launched the 86 rebrand, I saw some normal 299 lease deals. This summer I saw $1K off plus 0.9% for 60 months.

I'm not sure where the link is, but if I'm not mistaken the factory has or is in the process of no longer taking orders for 2017 models. So its the normal get shit off the lot season.

Or you can just shop around for a 2017 BRZ Limited. Same car with the extra interior kit, also maybe a face that is easier to love.

26K after the rebate but before taxes and fees? Sounds like they are trying to charge you MSRP. The car is not that special. The OTD price shouldn't exceed 27K even with the TRD exhaust. It doesn't cost them $1K in materials or labor to install that exhaust. I would target 26K OTD, or just skip it altogether.

That 1k off and 0.9% seems pretty solid, thanks very much for sharing that.

The 26k price was on an 86 860 special edition w/ trd exhaust. Its MSRP was ~31k. Two dealers quoted me on this price actually for the same car at both. I dont really know what their true invoice is but they claimed that it was ~1,500 below their invoice they were selling it at.

Ah, okay. I missed the '860' part. Seeing 86 860 makes me a bit cross eyed. I'm seeing KBB has the 860 as $28,584 for the invoice of the manual, so if they are parting with it for $26~27K with the TRD, then you are getting a good deal.

If you're willing to wait, do it. I picked up a new '16 in March 2017 for $22k. Granted, it's a base model and had ~150 miles on it, but still a good deal.

I purchased a new 2016 BRZ Limited in March 2017 for $25.5k OTD. Has every option, except subwoofer and STI aero kit. I agree with waiting until the 2018 models roll out. The dealers around here were practically begging to get the previous MY cars of the lot.
