2017+ Reliability Improvements?

Did Subaru/Toyota do any changes to the 2017+ engines for reliability? Ignition coils, cam gears, oil control valves, etc? Or is it still the same and one should expect the same recurring issues?

I had a 2015 that was in and out of the dealership for warranty repairs including a replaced short block that did not solve the issue. I liked driving the car and would consider a 2017+ if the reliability issues were addressed.

This has probably been asked before and I should probably expect some "gtfo and search" posts, but I did and didn't find much.

I've attached the pdf that covers all the changes. Read through it and decide for yourself if your concerns have been addressed. Anecdotally, I haven't seen much in the way of issues on the +2017's. I have about 9k miles on mine and no issues so far. Some of the mods from the 2013-2016's don't fit without tweaking.

Revised valves (buffed and polished intake and exhaust valves) and camshaft (lower friction camshaft and lower weight rocker arm pivots), cylinder blocks with increased rigidity, greater piston durability, optimized fuel pump drive cam / upgraded fuel pump and fuel pressure sensor are some of them!

Thanks for this. Looks like the changes were more extensive than I thought.

Also looks like different cam gear, but whether or not it addresses that issue is in the air. New harness also so maybe it addresses the '15 TSB for coil packs?
