but for that last 23% of us that screw stuff up and like digging deep, pc works better. of course there's at least 50% of that 75 that either believe that they need the extra functionality of the 23%-ers, or have been trained that way by a 23%-er.

i left 2% for the linux, um, "people". i try to be nice here and there.
I know some people who use Macs over windows because they get real hard for the Unix underneath. Then what do they do? Mainly some semi-complex backup shit than a $25 program can accomplish in less time. Then a bunch of photos. No, no thanks. I get Windows now because it's cheaper for better hardware.

But then, if I'm running a 36 bay NAS, I need something a bit more hardcore.

I think from now on, we need to do a survey on any property we buy on contract regardless of if we know the seller. Would have avoided this whole mess
That would be a good idea, especially if what you "see / measure" on the ground doesn't seem to jive with the plot description as filed with the county (or whatever jurisdiction) records.

I'm sorry, I promised myself to limit my "back-in-the-day" stories, but, all this property lot line talk brings to mind this story.

Back in the late 60's, in California, the company I worked for purchased 130 acres of prune orchard near Coyote, CA (just north of Morgan Hill). Side note: The purchase price was a mere 1.3 million - can you believe that!

I was assigned to develop an agricultural research station on the property. Mind you, the properties in that area weren't fenced. So, one of my new hires had an uncle that had a D-8 cat we borrowed to doze all of the prune trees.

During the process, this jerk neighbor and tomato farmer, was bitching that my dozer driver was turning around in his tomato field, which bordered the property. So, I went up to San Jose (this was before the Internet) and acquired a copy of the surveyed plot plan for the property from the county records.

According to those records (and me "stepping it off", I figured that his tomato field was encroaching on my prune orchard. MEANWHILE, the locals kept stealing stuff from my station. I convinced the powers to be that we needed to obtain a new survey and then fence the property. They said OK.

The new survey showed that, what I suspected, that the neighbors tomato field was in fact encroaching on my property. I showed the survey results to the owner of the property (who had only owned it for five years) but he just got pissed off even more.

OK, the fence company came out to build the fence and were uncertain where to put the southern line and the "friendly'' neighbor tried to interfere.

Now comes the "fun" part. That D-8 cat had a laser devise that was beamed onto a laser guided land level that we parked in the SW corner of the property. I fired up the D-8 and clanked up to the SE corner of the property, pulling a twenty foot disk.

Off I went just within a foot of the property line through the side of the jerks tomato field. I then allowed several migrants in the area to pick up all the disked up tomatoes they wanted and the fence was built.

THE END

PS - when I became a real estate broker, I discovered more better ways of settling land disputes -

Welp, you may not get old, but, several years from now you may start telling stories -

soundman98's story.

"I remember just a few days ago, when I was 6 years old, my father gave me a few pieces of old siding that had fallen off the chicken house, a piece of tar paper that had blown off the corn crib, a hammer with a broken handle, a dull hand saw and a handful of bent, rusty nails and told me to build a dog house …."

On day 4 of long weekend at cottage. Manage to get a signal for about 20 seconds an hour or so. Severely restricts participation.
