More testing and head scratching... Valve events "appear" to coincide with#1 cylinder compression. Engine vacuum was at 22in hg. I sprayed brake cleaner all over with no changes, so no air leaks. There is suction to the MAP in the Nemesis unit. When you disconnect the vacuum line to the Nemesis it definitely changes how the engine runs so that at least seems to be working.

I called KAB and he was very willing to help. Unfortunately he was not much aid. He used a different throttle body and his fix was to manually adjust the IACV. This simply doesn't apply to me.

Now while the car started right up yesterday, today I was back to starting problems. I had a thought on that though... So the Nemesis doesn't use the cam sensor. Everything is done off the crank. Well, the crank has 2 revolutions per cam rotation so... How does the Nemesis know if it's on the first or second rotation? How this applies to no start/popping in intake manifold: if it happened to be on the second rotation when it starts then would it be off 180 degree cam timing?

Dyno Day!

Gave up on tuning it myself. Took it to TJ at H.S. Auto and Dyno in West Omaha. I still have the starting issue (TJ thinks I have a bad ground) but he smoothed out the throttle so there is almost no lag on tip in and cleaned up my idle and fuel map. Very happy with how it's running. 230hp and 270lbs. TJ said the gearing is driving that HP number down.

The map that came on the Hydra was set up with FRS style fuel pressure. So at idle it runs 20psi but pops up to 60 as soon as you get on the gas. This stumped us pretty hard since we didn't know why the FP was so low. It seemed to run ok like that but we changed it anyways up to 60.

Floor boards get hot as fuck. Gotta check on my wideband and grounds but otherwise this project is essentially finished. I'll post a couple more updates with my air conditioning setup and whatnot.

It's been a hell of a fucking ride guys, thanks for coming along

230 hp from a V8 swap? That seems like an inordinate amount of work and expense for that number.

Honestly the gearing is hurting that number badly. Stock rear end with the tr6060(geared for a 4000 pound car).

However the torque is fucking retarded! I've only ever had 4 bangers. And I've driven the gf's 350Z (320bhp stock) a lot... But holy fuck!... It slams you back in the seat and you just gotta hold on. I was surprised how low the HP was too. And I'll most certainly take a lot of flak from people who don't really KNOW what the numbers MEAN. To the average Joe: 250hp is low, 400 is pretty good, and 600 is high. I was the same way. 230 isn't much more than the FR-S right? But sure as fuck this thing doesn't feel like an FRS. I honestly can't imagine what 600lbs of torque feels like. Can't even fathom it

What type of dyno is it? The TR6060 gears are almost the same as stock FRS trans. so I don't think the gearing is a problem.

At the end of the day a number is a number. The important thing is that you enjoy it. That power rating seems like the dyno was probably reading wrong. Stock they make way more.

Enjoy that beast!

Mustang. But recall I'm on an unmodified ls1, stock was only 345bhp so 230 isn't that far off after gearing

Got it. Yes Mustangs read low too. You’re right on the ballpark. Enjoy it man! Glad you got it running!

Thanks. It runs great when it starts. Trying to find a short to ground now. Seems that is causing the failed starts and awful running situations. It's somewhere in the body harness but doesn't react to fuse removal. Any tips on how to find the short?

finding a short is just a PITA... need to test wire by wire with a multimeter.

dyno should be done in 1:1 for the trans. diff gearing usually gives a few HP swing in readings.

Update: shorted wire was just me being dumb. All modern cars have parasitic draw from computers and stuff so if course I had voltage at ground.

Anyways, what batteries is everyone running? I have a brand new Optima RedTop and I'm still getting voltage drop to about 10 volts on crank. I think this is fucking with the ECU. Has anyone else logged battery voltage on crank?
