Admittedly, there are people where $30,000 is the same ratio of their net worth as $3,000 is to me. If I were in that position, would I pay $30,000 for my kid's car? Maybe.

Also, I admit that my kids have all driven my car to school/work at some point, that is a different consideration than buying it for them.

Vancouver fits in there too. Nothing like some 20 year old kid driving around in a riced out Lambo or Maserati, paid for by daddy laundering money acquired through Chinese government corruption, to make you feel good about needing to spend $700k on a house that is still a 40min commute away from work...
