Not seeing that at all, I think it looks fine in the lower placement, far less damaging to the looks than the standard bumper mount. And either looks better than the BRZ with a plate on its dental dam IMO.

There are a few web sites that show tow-hook-based license holders with off centre placement - IMO they look really awful.
