FRS uses a lot of coolant?

Ahhh I missed a few pages and I posted in haste as I was waiting a few weeks before posting anything on my findings.

I'm happy to see others arriving at the same conclusion.

If you are losing fluid, you may have a slow leak somewhere. Just keep an eye on fluid levels and top off when necessary.
Well I bought a gallon of coolant from the dealer and the reservoir only took a few ounces.

so if we are loosing coolant by evaporation... shouldn't we be adding only distilled water to the reservoir? Seems to me if the problem is evaporation you are only concentrating the solution everytime you add more coolant

Yeah, that's mostly what I do. I just top the reservoir off with distiller water whenever the level goes down.

Seems logical, water evaporates so the concentration of coolant is much higher. If you just add coolant you are increasing concentration even more when water keeps evaporating

Totally agree with tye300. That's the culprit, the small hole which causes the fluid to evaporate

I couldn't see the coolant at all throughout winter, nowhere near "low" even after a drive. But my temperature gauge is still fine, max was like mid point, so I figured it's fine.

Recently, I checked after a drive home from work (10-15C~ outdoor temp.), I see it 2-3" above "low" mark in the reservoir tank. So it definitely did contract a lot during the cold temperatures. I just can't remember what it was like when I first got the car, I only checked because I read this thread a year ago lol

When I first got my car, it was at half.

After new motor installed I noticed that the bottle was low. I filled radiator and bottle and haven't had problem since. I always check when cold. Imo new and serviced cars have to be burped. These things run hot. I am now looking at aftermarket radiator and cooler thermostat.

People need to also remember that in addition to evaporation, even in a sealed system you would still have a low rate of loss through anything plastic or rubber. These materials are not completely impermeable.

I installed my Mishimoto Radiator last week and Mishimoto hoses. Filled up the coolant, burped the system. Radiator is still full. I keep checking the overflow tank and I swear my car is just drinking coolant. I'm going to check the water pump connection by the crank, but I'm pretty sure I am not seeing any leaks.

About to have to buy a third gallon of coolant because the aftermarket ones take a ton!
