Help Please!!
I figured I'd post it here since it does have to do with waiting for the 86 to release.
I went to the Hyundai dealership today to test drive the 2.0T Track Genesis Coupe and really liked it. I liked it so much I almost told them to get me a R-Spec in and I'd let my s2000 go for it. Because of this I need help from you guys in order to be able to wait for the 86 instead of jumping the gun on a Genesis Coupe. Keep me straightened out and away from getting a Genesis Coupe!! I beg you!!!

I say if it suits your needs and you enjoy it, AND you won't constantly "wonder" about waiting for an FT, then just go for the Genesis. You should however, wait until you've had a chance to drive the R-spec coupe before buying it based on the standard coupe. You just never know.

Ft-86 isn't coming out for another 2 years and anything could happen between now and then. With the way the economy is going the car could get cancelled or turned into a hybrid vehicle by then. Just get the R-Spec now if you like it that much and then trade it in on a second year model FT-86 when/if they come out. I love the concept of the FT-86 as much as anyone else on this site but if I needed a car right now I wouldn't hold out hoping the FT turned out to be everything they promise. Maybe I'm just jaded from the whole Mazda Kabura fiasco.

I find it amusing that some people are responding with the tired "it's a Hyundai" line. It wasn't that long ago that people thought negatively of Honda, Nissan, Toyota and other Japanese brands simply because they weren't cool, either. Hyundai's newest cars are lightyears ahead of their previous gen cars. And for their first ever true sports car, the Genesis is a damn fine good result.
People that hate on brands "just because".... well, we know what's up with you. |

lol funny thing is Han is Korean himself and I think a big supporter Hyundai in real life. dude I'm feeling the same way as you about the Genesis coupe. It may be a Hyundai but it's looking really appealing and has potential right now. But I guess I have the will to hold out and wait to see what Toyota/Subaru will bring to the table before I make any decisions. |
