I'm thinking about getting Rota Grids 18x8.5 et44 with 235/35/18 squared, lowered on RSR super down springs and whiteline front camber bolts. Will that work without any rubbing or other issues? Also could I do 245 all around if I decided to?

235/35 is a rare size and pretty much does not exist. 225/40, 235/40, 245/35 are the best choices.

With that size, you are reducing inside clearance by about 15mm. Go under the car and check the front spring perch clearance and you will have your answer.

@swarb I really appreciate the information. Of the three tire sizes you suggested, the 245/35-18 has the smallest change in diameter over stock - do you think with my wheels that 245/35-18 will fit without rubbing? My understanding is that the RE-71R runs a little large at the contact patch and this, combined with the fact that it's a sticky tire (meaning I don't want to 'over-tire' the car or unnecessarily increase rolling resistance), made me think I may be better off with the 235/40-18. Do you have any thoughts? Which size would you go with if it were your car?

Here's a quick comparison of the factory tire size versus the three tires sizes you had suggested:

Here's a quick comparison of the factory tire size versus the three tires sizes you had suggested:
Around 25inches is a good diameter, 25.5 is too much imo.
You have to look at the specs on the specific tire. I can't find 245/35 for those tires on tire rack. Only 255/35 and the other sizes mentioned.

The 235 is measured on a 8.5" wheel, while the 225 is on a 8".
235 fits better on the wheel, 225 fits better for the car.

I'd go with the 225/40 for a few reasons, smaller diameter both for acceleration, lap times, nimbleness, looks(not too tall). Tire rack tested a while back and 225's for lap times, and bigger for ultimate grip(more g's) like slalom or skid pad(like autocross).

re71r's are a lot of tire for the street(another reason for 225). They would probably heat cycle out before they wear out, but that does not matter much if you aren't chasing lap times.

edit- 245's wont rub unless mcs coils are wide like stock suspension.

I'm looking to order the following:

Front - 18 x 8.5 +38 wrapped in 225/40/18
Back - 18 x 9.5 +35 wrapped in 255/35/18

I'm currently on stock suspension. Will I run into any rubbing / clearance issues on stock struts?

Considering buying ST Coilovers in the future - likely a 1" drop. Will this set up work?

I appreciate the help

Refer to Meaty Tire Thread. 255 tyres will rub on stock suspension. 245 won't. I would suggest waiting for coilovers or going 245 in the rear.

I've searched all over and can't find an answer to this, so we'll see if my course of thought is correct.

I have a set of 18x9" Motegis left over from my old RX-8 that I'd like to use with my FR-S, I have 245/40/18 PSS tires on them. Problem is (as you probably guessed) the bolt patterns are different. I was considering bolt-on spacer/adapters, and it seems I can find 15mm and 25mm varieties. The wheels are however +35 offset and I assume the spacers would bring me to +20/+10 respectively.

Am I going to have issues with fender rub/excessive wheel poke where suspension travel would cause an issue?

Edit: Car is bone stock. For now.

The adapters are going to add to your positive offset not subtract,

you'll be at +50 effectively , I think you'll have serious poke issues

I thought offset was inverse to poke - higher number, less poke?

Either way, simulating with the auto fitment calculator I found stickied I found out that even if I'm right (+50 sinks in more) and I have a combined +10, the wheel shouldn't poke too far.

No, your right. I always flip flop the offset vs poke/suck

Forget everything i said in my first reply...

with 15mm spacer your offset is going to be +10 effectively, Still poke issues. The red line represents your fender.

Hi guys,

Will it fit rub the shock and coil....can't find a definite answer.

17x8 +45 on 255/40/17, stock suspension, camber maxed out on SPC bolt down + crashbolt upper hole.

Thanks.

Not the place to discuss this. Do you have info about the fitment ? If you don't, please do just pass.

Thanks !
