Just would like to document as well that I just got in my FRS and noticed the visor hanging down by itself. Went to fold it back up and it turns out that same clip/bracket thing is broken. Can't find the pieces right now since it's dark but will look in the morning. Only thing I can think of is the cold making the plastic brittle.

To whom it applies, i have a brand new BRZ LTD (vanity lighted) passenger visor available for sale, $60 shipped (US 48) and it's yours. My car was totaled before I could replace the broken one in the car. Private message me if interested. I bought it directly from Subaru. $90 brand new, so this is a steal!

mine have never really been adjustable. Either fully down or fully folded outward, no in-between. Dealer said it is because its new and the springs are tight. The car is now 16 months old and no change. Since they go up all by themselves I probably won't have this issue.

Add another one to the group. Taking out my sunshade at 10:30pm 75 degrees F. I always went easy on it since I saw this thread a while ago, but I guess it didn't help. Cracked in half, same as OP.

God I hate going to the dealership. I pull up, the service guy comes out and I show him the broken visor. He tells me he may need to order parts, so he prints out some papers for me to sign, and then someone comes to drive the car back in to the shop. I ask the service guy if they have to take the car back into the shop before we know if they even have the parts, he says they have to see what it will take to fix it, so they drive it back. I pace for a few minutes, until my service guy starts walking past me toward the shop, I follow him to the door, hold the door open to see if he is going to my car to see about the parts. The shop manager walks up and asks if he can help me and I explain about waiting on the service guy. He walks through the door and then turns around and tells me to close his shop door. I stand around catching glimpses of the shop when ever someone goes in or out of the door, just trying to check on the status. My service guy walks back out of the shop and doesn't say a word, just goes back to his desk. After a while longer my car comes driving out from the back, the service manager gets out and asks me "what did you do to the visor?" I told him I closed it to remove my sunshield and it just snapped. "It's going to be hard to cover that under warranty" why is that? "because that's broken, it's not a defect, they don't just break like that, you must have done something to it, and that's not covered" actually they do, I can show you a whole bunch of people it happened to on a forum. "I'll see what I can do to get it covered under warranty" and as he turns to go he tells me "and don't go opening my door and looking around my shop again" I look at him with a blank stare till he realizes I am not going to nod or agree, and he walks off. Only 5 seconds later do I think I should have asked him: why do you have something to hide?.. too late.

so there you have it, you are all abusing your cars, because "they just don't break like that"

Try a different dealership or call scions customer service line. Should get taken care of 👍🏻
Good luck

same EXACT problem as OP. Anyone replace the sun visor outside of warranty? I've got too many miles for it to be covered. Dealer wants $70 for a new one. Gotta be a cheaper one out there.

Mine broke this morning! Same thing, taking out the sun shield.

I noticed it had gotten really easy to turn the visor from windshield-facing to window-facing a few weeks ago. I thought it was odd, but it seemed to still work fine. My guess is it must've had cracks starting then and this morning they went through the whole way.

I just ordered one from 541 Motorsport.

Well, I thought I did! Turns out it was listed wrong and is passenger's side. Great customer service though as they noticed it, called and messaged me, and refunded me right away as soon as I confirmed it was wrong. I will definitely order from them if they get one in before I locate another.
