It's all about technique, I've found. Im 5'11 and 185 lbs, a bit heavier than I'd like but not a horker. My method for getting out is:

1. Park with at least 1 empty spot between me and next car over.
2. Open door as far as I can
3. Pivot in seat and put both feet on the ground
4. Exit by standing up/walking out in one motion.

Now, getting out of the car in the much tighter space of the garage at home is a different story. I look like a ferret with four broken legs then. But only my wife is around to laugh at me when that happens.

I'm 33, 6', 230 lbs, disabled(5 fractured vertebra, degenerative spine disease, 4 bulging discs & an impinged nerve root at L5)... and I have no problems getting in & out of my BRZ. (My girlfriend does, though)

All of your excuses are deemed invalid. I suggest you guys do some squats or lunges to improve your leg strength. Otherwise, I foresee walkers & tennis balls in your near futures.

Fortunately I find this car a lot easier to get in and out of than the Fiero I drove for two years. That car was like the FRS but more so in every way. I basically had to roll out of that thing and almost end up on my hands and knees on the ground afterwords, and that was a successful exit. You should have seen some of the older people that drove Fiero's, they really had a challenge.

It's a science. Spin and lunge. Every one I know gets in and out with a grunt, though. I got a good friend (girl) that complains every god damn time. I just tell her to shut up. I tell em' all to shut up. Comes with the territory and it's worth looking like a buffoon every now and again when I'm carrying beers in one hand and my keys in the other, pushing the door open with my shoulder. Meh.

LOL I've found getting out isn't my issue... its more getting in and getting situated. But even that's nothing to complain about.

The SARD seat covers make a HUGE difference. The stock seats make you feel like you are velcro'd into car...

My frs is slammed, yet it's not a problem getting out- swing the legs out both hands on the door sill and push.

Ehh, you get used to it. For me it's actually easier to get in and out of the FRS than it is cars of a more sensible ride height. It's just practice really. Although, if you don't have much space to open the door, that does make it a lot trickier.

Im 27, 6'2 and 170 pounds and I feel like I look stupid getting out of this car ha.

I have gotten used to it that its not an issue, but its no Transformer dramatic camera upshot sexyness when I get out.

My wife has a 4WD Tacoma w/o running boards. I have to drop the final few inches out of the truck. There is no problem reaching the ground in the FRS.

Getting out, left foot goes out, hand goes to the back of the door sill where Toyota/Subaru were gracious enough to put a soft pad, and just sort of roll out to a stand.

I tell MomHawk this is all part of my exercise routine!

Hey @ichitaka05 maybe you should add a "getting in and out of the car" speed contest to the FT86 gathering!
My technique exactly.
