My boss tells me what needs to be done.
I tell others to do it. After that it's coffee and internets, maybe some netflix, a gym session, maybe a walk around to see what's happening, after that it's back to the internets until it's time to knock off. Rinse and repeat. I'm taking early retirement next year, if the Mrs lets me, she a fair bit younger than me and thinks I'll get myself into mischief with too much free time, I'm gonna need to get a real hobby to fill in the days, there is only so much web surfing you can do.

winstonscifi, I'm a Joe Walsh fan, but that's not where my handle came from. I just picked it because in some things, I'm kind of an anti-technology neo-Luddite (despite having worked in cutting-edge biotechnology my entire life), though I am a huge scifi fan (which I assume you might be as well from your handle). I like to keep car things simple, and don't like technology just for technology's sake (but passionately embrace it if there's a need for and genuine value to it). Simple automotive systems tend to be more reliable, and easier to fix when they break. I only drive manual transmissions, am not a fan of Teslas, avoid things like 'drive by wire steering', and prefer a carburetor over fuel injection. I prefer a level of tech in a car that I'm comfortable working on. I have and listen to vacuum-tube radios and stereo, and we have two rotary-dial phones in our house (one 1919, one 1939) that work perfectly. I've never cared what others think about what I drive, if my car is 'faster' than theirs, or what the "numbers" are. What's important to me is how I like the car, how it feels to drive it (and of course what my wife thinks; I didn't get a Corvette because she refuses to ride in one). You're only young once, but immaturity can last forever. |

52 here.
As I approach the retirement zone I realize that some people really need a job or at least "a purpose" when they retire or else they stagnate. Others thrive after retiring and beginning full time recreating. I don't know which type I am yet. |

delRey, Anderson, Clarke, and several others of the greats got their start when published through Winston. I had about 20 of the books given to me as a kid and I read every one of them at least twice. Still have a handful of my favourites to this day.

I bought my FR-S 10 Series last year a couple of months before I turned 62. Just recently turned 63. You never grow too old to have and enjoy a fun car.

I was 52 when I purchased the car in May, 2012, so 60 now. Which it just occurred to me means I've been driving this car for about 12% of my life.
