$150 to fix a small dent?

So the other day some lady opened her door and slammed it right into my car as she was getting in. The damage is right behind the door handle on the drivers side closer to the rear tire, at the level of the door handle. It's about the size of a quarter and reflects with light so it's very noticeable. I got out, looked at it and point it out to her and she blows me off and says "Sue me, you have no proof it was me and your car isn't going to be hot and new forever.“ And took off without me being able to get a license plate number. Today I had it checked out for an estimate and it came to $150 to pop the dent out with no paint work since the paint looks fine. The question is, does this seem like a good price? Too high or just right?

I'm sorry, I would've returned the favor to her.

With a swift kick to her ASS! Wouldn't have hesitated a bit! Women want to be treated as equals? Kick her ass! Then the dent she put in your car can mean something, to you and her.

Sorry to hear. At least you handled yourself like a pro and I don't think there was anything better you could've done in that spur of moment... Given the lady was not cooperative.

I would hit up a local dealer's dent guy or someone that works dents on the side, and see what he can do for you. I've got away with a gentleman fixing it for $30-$40 and a well done job in the past. $150 is way too much, I feel... But then again, I am stingy, lol.

no phone? license plates can't be that hard to memorize right? In any case, should've prevented her from leaving, and called the police for a report.

In any case, your insurance should cover it under uninsured motorist maybe?

150 is astronomical for a PDR, my guy charges me 10 bucks a dent. I think he charges other 40 a dent.
It literally takes him less than 10 minutes to pop/smooth a dent out.

I'd kicked the shit out of her car btw.

Depends on the location. The area right behind the handle is near the edge, probably reinforced, and could take a lot of time to remove. I've seen certain dents take 10min, while some others take an hour. It all depends though. Should always ask for several estimates.

Where do you guys live that has people doing PDR for ~$50? Everywhere around here is around $150 and it's MINOR, very light dent that's not very noticeable. I called everywhere and I can't get anything below $100.

I took my 1-month old '15 BRZ S.B back to the dealer for a complimentary 1,000 mile lookover just yesterday and had arranged for the dealer's local 'dent guy' to meet me there at the same time to fix a REALLY small ding I noticed the first week I had the car (hardly noticeable to the casual observer, but it was noticeable to me at least, and that was enough when everything else remains pristine) . My salesman had told me he charged between $50-$100 a dent fix...set me back the right-down-the-middle price of $75. Which seems on the pricey side to me, so $150 sounds really high. But I'm in the Cincy area and it looks like replies from CA folks above aren't overly shocked by your estimate, so I guess the bottom line is, depends where you are geographically. Sorry to hear your experience, and I, too, offer my congrats on your restraint (although I'd be tempted to follow her and secretly return the favor with a tire iron myself).
