Pretty much. BRZ because I cannot yet pay for a 2.7L Cayman. Nothing wrong with that.

But the reality is, no automatic system, no matter how fast or how good can communicate with the driver like a classic manual setup.

I love the box in the R35 GTR for example, its not mine, but i do have a Audi S4 also with a fancy semi-auto system. Its fast. But ill take manual shifting any day of the week.

Its just one of those things. Race cars are not designed for driver fun, they are designed to go as quickly as possible. On the mountain run on the street id much rather have more fun then get there 30sec earlier.
+1 i totally agree. i rather get a slower time and have more fun.

Something funny happened to me these past 4 months after buying my RS6 (which never came with a manual option): I now feel that with enough horsepower/torque under the hood I kinda stop caring what kind of transmission it has. I would need to keep one manual car to satisfy my desire to row my own, though.

I leased an S4 6MT; definitely more fun than the 7spd S-tronic. It's different when you have a choice, though. If they don't offer it with three pedals then they just don't offer it. I will say however that Audi's manuals have a very vague throw to them; the shifters feel like they're not connected to the transmission at all.

Ohh for sure. I also had a B5 S4 with the 6 spd, great car, fast, but the shifter is a absolute joke against the one in say a S2000 or even the 86.
