Brisbane future owners /

I made this thread as much to give us something else to talk about as anything else, but I am interested to find out who in Brisbane will be driving around one of these bad boys, and who might be keen to meet up like once a month and maybe go for a drive in the mountains or something

I had planned to wait a few years before making the purchase, but a broken shift selector rod and the thought of spending more money on my car which i still love to bits but am trying to look after, may have pushed my plans forward considerably. I've had my 316 for about 6 years and i think I have spent more on repairs and services than I originally paid for it. Not complaining though, I love the crap out of my little 3 door 1.6l 4cyl RWD beastie, she's just getting old.

Also, I had originally picked the white, but when i picture in my mind rolling down the ICB at night in a dark asphalt 86 with the TRD exhaust, low profile spoiler, then imagine myself driving it, I can't help but grin from ear to ear. I'm not even sick of people walking past my desk at work and, upon seeing my stupid grin and faraway expression asking 'you get laid at lunchtime or something?' because then i can say 'no, this.' and show them a pic.

i was thinking about getting one June next year (2013) but i might be a bit flexible now.

it really depends on when VW launches Mk7 Golf. i am currently driving a Mk5 Golf GTI and i want to sell it before they launch a new model (rumour to be end of 2012). see how it goes.

meeting would be cool. i have been going to some "fun runs" at Lakeside and i will definitely bring the 86 to one of those. Touge would be fun but i drive really slow as i'm not that familiar with the roads.

yeah I've done the road over Mt Glorious a couple of times in my 316, the descent down the back side is fun but it's a bit of a workout for the brakes and gearbox. I wouldn't go too fast down there until a tow and crash repair wouldn't trouble my wallet in the slightest.

Glorious/Nebo, Mt Gravatt Lookout (for a quick run) or even West Mt Cotton Road are all fun. Even a drive down to the mountains near Nerang or up near Beerwah/Melany. So many fun roads around the place...

hopefully i'm back up and running by the weekend, might check it out sunday arvo.

Might be fun to get together sometime before release for a few beers, argue over which colour is the best and how much it'll cost

Hey guys,
I am planning on buying one shortly after release. Will be a red one, plates organised, rims already pictured, haha.
Have been a long term follower of the site and excited about the car since it's inception!
I'm keen for spirited driving meet ups

let's group buy car, mods everything!!!!!! lol

still can't decide 86 or BRZ tho....

personally will enjoy the stock car for a while first then CAI and sussy before wheels.

i dun want fitting good looking wheels on the stock 4wd ride height. it will take a bit of time to have some decent sussy out on the market. i don't want to buy cheap rushed stuff then regret.

after using Teins for the last 2 cars, i think i'll go European brand this time. maybe KW......

I will probably keep mine mostly stock, except for that exhaust package with the pipes that are larger and flattened on the bottom, but I can install that at a later date, that's no problem. Maybe I've just been looking at them too long but those pics of the Modellista kits are looking damn nice too. I'm not going to be racing or anything, it's pretty much going to be a DD for me, so I don't need sus or wheels. I'll stick to the stockies and just limit my fun to when it rains, like I do now.

Exhaust (inc headers), intake, suspension (not sure how much) and wheels are what I wanna do. Strut braces as well.
Mine will mostly be for DD, but I will skidpan it and take it to track days, but I don't think I will drift this car. Just grip and wet skid pan.
I have no desire to keep mine stock. The stock wheels are ugly (16's look better than 17's in design).
But I still don't wanna go nuts
I will be taking it for mountain runs OFTEN
