Depends on whether you're fat or not I guess?

I did mine using jack stands and there was not need to remove any covers.

Nope, it's completely accessible from underneath.

You'll see a split pin holding the gear lever to the rod on the gearbox. Remove it together with the thin washer and replace with a thicker steel washer and refit the pin. Problem solved.

( It's the joint right at the bottom of this pic that you're looking for.)

BTW.
I've sprayed some Liqui Moly Tacky Lube Spray in there as well for good measure.

EDIT:

Special thanks to @Freedom who noticed the loose washer.

Anyone know the size of this washer? ID/OD?

I have a kartboy shifter, and have NO rattles.
Did your shifter rattle before installing the Kartboy shifter?

I purchased 10mm washers from Lowes, stainless steel and nylon. With the SS I was not able to put the pin back in (~2.05mm thich). Nylon worked (1.65mm thick), but I'm going to check it to make sure it's not wearing poorly.

Necro thread... looking at the 2022 shifter linkage the pin holding the washer (no change) has been changed to a ring clamp. Otherwise everything looks the same although not the same part numbers.

https://parts.subaru.com/a/Subaru_20...11-350-01.html

I might order this ring clamp and see if it works better than trying to find a slightly thicker washer. not sure how such a tiny ring clamp works is it just one piece that's stretched to fit on?
