CHIEF ENGINEER TETSUYA TADA, on working with BMW on the A90 Supra

I know many of you are a bit heartbroken that the A90 wasn't a direct lineage successor that many of you hoped with a legendary 2JZ-GTE.
But I have a personal relation with the Chief Engineer of this project who was assigned to lead this project by his superiors, namely Akio Toyoda the CEO.
And he has worked very hard to bring you with with nearly 7 years of his life.
His mission wasn’t to prepare a reboot of something old. As much as it was to carry the car into the future with the same level of progress and passion. All previous A-designation Toyota cars did the same, and evolved with a theme.

So here's a little read, and you can understand this car better, if not like it, to know it a little better.

Humbly I present you Mr. Tada here.

The good part about what we can tell from the camoed body is that it looks almost the same as the 86 so I can just buy some $3 Ebay plastic Supra badges, slap some Walmart fake vents on the sides and convince 99.999% of the public I have the new Supra. Can save all sorts of cash.

The shifter and screen are what stand out and vent locations. On the new m4, m3 that screen is tied into sensors for gesture control above the screen.

Most likely, it's going to be way more "toyotaish" keep in mind these photos are taken from prototype vehicles that most likely are specifically for drivetrain and chassis development at the goodwood festival.

I have a feeling however the main outline and infotainment system will remain though.

Don't see the beauty, although it definitely looks better from this angle than the front. Still even from this angle it looks like a large mouth bass to me.

This latest article does seem to verify the possibility of the 4 cylinder A90. However, it also mentions that the car may be sold in limited markets like those that have taxes on larger engines (like Japan for example). NA with its wide open spaces and thirst for big engines and HP numbers may not be deemed a suitable market for such a car even if it is built.

IMHO, if the lineup goes 86- 4 cyl Supra- 6cyl Supra, the 4 cyl turbo would be the first one to be discontinued. The 6 cyl has the power, the 86 has the handling (yes, there's a reason they use a flat 4- the inline turbo 4 would not be as good handling). The other would have less of everything and not much more of anything to warrant purchasing it.

I could only see them doing this so that they can advertise "Supra Starting MSRP of $35,000*"

*4 cyl turbo base option..... which of course is in such limited production that there would be none available realistically

Smaller engines always outsell the bigger engine option and there's no way the 4 banger is less than $45k
