Auto art blows every other model company out of the water in terms of details. Of course, that comes with a steep price tag.

Here are my two auto art models:

Yeah, Maisto is pretty much a cheap brand, I have a few of their stuff. They have some 1:18 cars that you can't find anywhere else, but the good stuff is AUTOart, Minichamps, and Kyosho. Hot Wheels also is starting to make some really nice stuff. Maisto is all metal and plastic, while AUTOart has real carpeting and fabric for their interiors.

Booo they only have the AE86 in Trueno. I collect AE86 Levin models. Where's the Levin love?

For all the budget folks RMZ has an FR-S out that I saw in Japantown in SF for like $6.99. My son has one of these in black.

That's what I'd put on my dashboard in the car, not an AutoART. Those go in glass cases.

I think you meant to say Toyota needs to make the Toyota 86 GT Limited available in North America so we have a reason to buy these models. Only logical way to do this.

I just want a toy car that looks like mine.

I would love to own a FT86 with all of the goodies but Toyota didn't show the North American owners the same love as other parts of the world.

But I have my whiteout FR-S which is the same car as the others with a different twist.

I just got a newsletter from a diecast wholesaler I buy from occassionally, some new Chinese diecast company has the European Toyota GT86 in 1:18.

http://www.centurydragon.com.hk/en/showcase/item/112

The Century Dragon version is sold in red, white pearl, and what appears to be the correct orange, and all three are left-hand drive.

http://www.diecastmodelswholesale.co...a-86-GT/Detail (red)

http://www.diecastmodelswholesale.co...a-86-GT/Detail (white pearl)

http://www.diecastmodelswholesale.co...a-86-GT/Detail (orange metallic)

Now I've never heard of this Century Dragon before, so I can't speak of their quality, but the price of $135 is actually slightly more expensive than the AutoArt price on the same website, so take that for what you will. From the pictures though, I think the engine detail looks much better than the AutoArt, and the interior might even be better as well.

I wish they'd make Red in RHD and without the spoiler.

Do Autoart have a habit of doing some colours first and then others later?

Yes, they usually don't come out with all variants of a design at the same time.

Check out the wheels - the AutoART ones look way better than the Century Dragon ones, which appear almost like 16"

I've bought the autoart orange 86, looks fantastic on display. The orange colour is much better in person - somehow when photographed the colour washes out and becomes that sickly puke orange.

I also considered the century dragon one as it was a bit cheaper on ebay but even though it has more engine/interior/side badge detail, the autoart one is just much better for display - the proportions are more accurate (especially the wheels) and if a photo of it is taken correctly, it could almost be mistaken for a real car.

I saw the orange Autoart in a model store on the weekend. It does look better than the photos, but it still doesn't look as dark or metallic as I think it should.
