I was going to pick up some LED backup lights at Advance Auto Parts. The local store tells me they have them. I'll have to see if it's obvious they have resistors installed.

Most LEDs are have a forward voltage (the lowest voltage they turn on) of between 2.5 to 5 volts.

So, to make products that are Plug-&-Play, almost all companies sell automotive LED lights that have been made to work with 12 volts. This does not take into account the resistance needed for a specific 12v car circuit.

Meaning the lights will hook to a 12v car battery and work fine. But when installed on a car, they may need a resistor. (I'm talking about generic or lower priced ebay or autozone LED lights - which work, but may need some tinkering....)

There are a few vendors on this forum that sell LED lighting that has resistors and functions awesome.

This may be simple, but did you check the brake fluid level? I had a similar problem autocrossing ('95 RX-7). Once in a while if my fluid level was low and I pulled high g's. Light would come on. I just turned the car off, then back on - all good.
