86 hood to BRZ compatability

I want to change my 2014 brz swp hood due to large scratches. Someone is selling a hood from his swp 86 that costs just as much as a repaint so im guessing its bette than risking color mismatch. Are they completely interchangeable? Meaning no VIN number issues?

Is the 86 MT or AT?

The MT cars come with smaller battery under the hood that might affect fitment.

Oh would this really be a concern on the hood? Esp since i think the battery space isnt always an exact fit?

Try this: look at aftermarket hoods. Is there ever an option to pick your specific model? If not, chances are they're exactly the same.

I'll give you a hint: they're the same.

If the choices are for it to look like shit because it has scratches or for it to look like shit because I put some redneck ricer fake carbon fiber shelf paper on it, I'd stick with scratches and just use the shelf paper on shelves where it belongs.

The hoods are exactly there same across all years and models. So are all the other body panels. God I hope Kraz was just trolling!

Thanks Tcoat, is there a VIN or issue with hood replacement? (i looked around to see no VIN though, but there is a subaru sticker with some numbers on my current one)

Also wondering the same if there are VIN stuff for the Rear bumper since i am also planning to swap mine due to previous owner placing drilled black sensors..

LOL, somebody got really excited! But I am not that excited with the idea either way to join you in a flame war. It was just a suggestion I might have considered. Here is another no-rice video just for you

Hey thanks! You must have some previous experiences with shelf liners.

To be honest I am a little worried with making mine look like a ricer too. But, as I see, I could have caused that impression inadvertently. Did you see my latest mod, the CBW Valenti taillights. Can you honestly tell me if it looks like a ricer? Seriously, I am asking your most conservative opinion. If that passes your judgement, I will feel better.

Sorry for the hijack but Tcoat sealed the answer anyway.

I didn't like them when I first saw them several years ago, but they've grown on me. I still wouldn't put them on my car, but I've seen much worse as well. They're surely not as rice as putting fake carbon fiber crap on your hood.
