Makes sense.
If you need any help testing etc that, let me know.

You will have to reverse engineer the CAN signals and then generate them to command the various modules.

The preferred tool for reading CAN signals is Vector CANalyzer. It costs a lot of money.

From what I know about the CANbus network, the remote lock fob will send a signal that is processed by the remote module ECU. This ECU acts as one node with it's own node ID.

It will then send out the "lock" PID packet on the CANbus network to the lock ECU Node, which locks the door.

To make a module, you would have to build a custom Node PCB, which was programmed to watch for the "lock" PID from the remote module ECU, and then it would have to send out the "windows up" PID to the windows Node.

Quite a difficult proposition, although very possible. It would require someone with PID knowledge and a test car.

What would people really pay for this new ECU node as well? The cheapest ones would cost $50+ to manufacture, and that doesn't include all the software and testing, wiring harness, packaging, shipping, and marketing.
It's actually very easy in my opinion. These exact type of modules have existed for BMW's for many years. Windows up on lock; mirrors fold in on lock; vert up on lock, etc. I have a programmable CAN node at home, I could probably write the software for this in an afternoon...just no interest however. But suffice to say, this is probably a very easy thing to do.

I can tell you right now that these types of commands are among the easiest to figure out if you have means to listen along the bus as you activate the windows or lock.

More complicated signals, such as steering angle and yaw rate, are harder to figure out.

You are NOT alone, I am interested too. In the window roll up and down, and in the locks locking after X amount of mph and unlocking on ignition off or something like that.

I'm very interested

Yeah, there's an art to it. I'm getting better at my first push success rate.

the other small item on my wish list was for the radio to keep playing after the motor is turned off, until a door is opened.

I share your hatred of that button. It's absolutely horrible.

Any update on the PID's. Very interested in seeing more data the bus passes. Bet if we knew the PID for the door locks then Visconti could add it to his tune so the doors lock once the car hits a certain speed.
