How high can I safely push my rev limit?
I'm an avid autocrosser so to push my rev limit from 7600 to say 7800 or 8000 would also push my 2nd gear top speed from 62 to possibly 65 or 66.
How high can I safely set my rev limit?

There are numerous forum posts about this. After a lot of reading, many users said that with our engines there is really no power to be had above 7500 RPM like with an STI or most other cars. I would set it at 7600 RPM like most tunes and call it a day and not risk premature engine failure.

I'm not looking for power as much as I'm looking to NOT hit that 7600 wall...theres times on course when I'm on the soft limit at 7600 for a good 3-5 seconds...3-5 seconds on a 62mph wall

Ah I gotcha. A couple people on the previous threads said they didn't want to go higher than 7800 RPM

If you are on redline for long enough to cause significant time loss, you probably have time to shift up and down (even tho shifting down to 2nd is a b.tch sometimes). Otherwise, you arent losing much anyway
You could also try a taller tire like 235/45/17 if it suits your track better? |

If you want a couple MPH, you can try slightly larger tires.

Like others have said, tires.
That being said, I'm considering doing the opposite for my car. I'm thinking about trying a 215/45r17 Rival S 1.5 on a 16x7.5 (the 2017s can run 7.5" in street class) next year. With the 2017's gearing I can only go 57 in 2nd, so on fast courses I have to shift anyway. With the smaller tires that'd drop to 54.5, but I'd have a 5% gearing advantage, be 2lbs lighter a corner, and sit .7" lower than a 225/45r17. I think the good would outweigh the bad, as long as I don't blow too many shifts. Not a direct answer to your question, but food for thought.
