2009 Mustang Gt Auto hands down. One of my exes got one as a graduation gift and had me drive it on a 16 hour road trip with her. The first 30 minutes were fun... Then the little things started getting to me. Terrible seat position, terrible button placement, terrible views, but the kicker was terrible headrests!

The most disappointing cars I've ever driven were those that broke down on deserted back roads, in the rain, while I was in a hurry to get somewhere.
The rest were fine...

people online never really highlight just how gigantic those things are, and that combined with the dana 30 stick axle makes it feel like you're driving a small pickup. I sold that and got a lexus GS300, which feels nimble in comparison.

the BRZ was a little bit disappointing too, though. there's all the internet hype about how amazing the chassis is and how toyota designed it and so on and so forth and then you finally start turning wrenches on it and it's like "nope, it's totally just an impreza under here. god damnit."
Doubt you have wrenched on an Impreza or a BRZ if you think that its just an Impreza chasis there.

2002 Hyundai Tiburon. Blind sports you could park a battleship in, anemic acceleration, and the worst automatic since the early 80's.

Easily the most disappointing car I've ever driven was a 5spd manual PT Cruiser. Talk about just an overall awful built car.

That and the new beetle (early 2000's I'd guess). Just super basic, felt like it was going to fall apart

The only time this car is disappointing is when someone on the track has no manner and doesn't lift on the straight and you get stuck behind them for a lap or two.

Most disappointing (and worst) car I ever owned was a 1980 Plymouth Horizon. This was during a period of time when Lee Iacocca was offering a 30 day full refund if you bought a Chrysler product and didn't like it.

About two to three weeks after purchase, the automatic transmission failed entirely in the middle of traffic for no apparent reason. It was towed to the dealership; they found that it had a "porous" transmission case, whatever that is. I would have said that it was cracked and leaking. They freely admitted that it was a manufacturing defect.

At that point I had no confidence in a car that failed after only two weeks. I told them that I wasn't satisfied and that I wanted to return the car to them. You would have thought that I had asked for their first-born child. After some prevarication and attempts to avoid honoring Lee's guarantee, I had my attorney friend write them a nice letter concerning the Magnuson-Moss Act and how it applied to warranties. You should have seen how quickly they gave me back my money! I guess my friend knew which button to push.

It was such a colossal failure on the part of the company and the dealership that I have never considered another Chrysler product to this day.

Gotta join the V6 mustang group for most disappointing. Was what I may call peppy but that was it. Was like driving an suv in feel and handling.
One that surprized me the most was the 14 Focus ST. It was a blast on the test drive, handled great, was faster on the take off then the Mustang (drove them back to back) and if you are gadget fan it had it all. Might have bought it if there were not a billion of them on the road.

I've never driven a Focus ST, but I traded cars with my friend for about half an hour (Newer Fiesta ST) and good god, that thing had some torque. Seat bolsters were fat and kept you in place, and it had a decent sound. The clutch was a bit finicky, but maybe I'm just used to how mine feels after taking out the spring under the pedal.

Most disappointing car I ever drove was actually a Porsche 993 twin turbo. This was the first of the all wheel drive 911 turbos in the mid/late 90's. A guy brought a brand new one to a track event and asked me to instruct him in it. The car understeered so badly that you never could get it to rotate, no matter how you drove it. You just had to wait and wait and wait to get on the throttle that cars with 100hp less were blasting past out of the corners. Nice street car, terrible track car.

I had been wanting a 2008 vw r32 for almost a year before I test drove one. I thought that with AWD and 250hp it would be a blast to drive, but it felt like driving the wife's jetta. Deffinately a letdown.
