Looks like CEL/Rough Idle is getting a lot more attention.

Sign of a recall to come?

Just read this as well. I've only experienced it twice in 3000 miles, but I'll be making mention of it come service time.

Now did you get the light? All i've had after ~3500 miles is occasional shaking while idling at a light with revs dropping a bit, but never below 500 rpm.

If you mean a CEL, no, I haven't had that.

Just like you said, the occasional rough idle, and those two times where it dipped, but bounced back up.

Maybe people will start cancelling their "orders".
And the people who "truly" want this car will have batter chance of getting it.
Just like when there was the unintended acceleration news, I could buy 2010 Prius without waiting (there was a long wait list before that news).

I was told the reason my car was taking so long to be delivered was because a large number of FR-S' was being held at the processing center for quality issues. I wasn't told what the issues were though.

I also have that, but i had CEL and got a new cam sprocket. Maybe a new ECU will fix those random idle dips.

There's the mention of "baked in" again in regards to the ECU mapping. If owners are supposed to baby the car the first few hundred miles, wouldn't that conflict with the enjoyment of high rpm driving after break-in if the ECU is "baked in" at only 100 miles?

Perhaps I just don't understand what they are describing, but it sounds like the ECU will assume grandma drives the car permanently. What's it going to think about the driving style when "VTEC kicks in, yo"?

edit: aha, one of the replies from the link has a guy mentioning what I'm thinking. Shouldn't you "drive it like you stole it"? Isn't that what every owner would ultimately want their ECU to assume for a vehicle like this?

The vast majority of these people bought the car before this got widespread and well known. The chirping issue on the other hand was presented to this website very early. Your question does apply to me though, as I'm still on the fence about buying this calendar year(still 2013 model).

A fair estimate has been suggested to be 5-10% affected. Even if you double that quote that still leaves a much greater chance to get one that works fine. How long it works fine though is the question. Those lucky owners are after all using the same parts that are proving problematic for others. That's why I wouldn't even ponder for a nanosecond buying one of these without a huge warranty to go with it. That would be my first warranty on any product I've ever bought in the last 20 years.

Just a minor point, but the idle dip was reported on the forum prior to the chirp.
