Not sure how it is in Canada, but it's a cake walk here even if you've only read the small section in our driving book once.

The whole process is pretty long, but I'm sure the written exam is pretty easy as well.

Got my first bike today! It's a Fireblade Jr. (2015 CBR300R) with an itty bitty single, but it suits me just fine while I am starting out. Plus, being in southern California I have access to so many great twisty roads that I don't think I'll have time to worry about the top end power, low end torque should suit my corner exits well.

The condition was great with low miles and I think I got a fair price on it, could have had other CBRs cheaper but they would have been either higher mileage/dropped/or non-ABS. The limited number of these bikes available locally was a factor as well.

Overall the bike is comfortable and very forgiving of all my dumb mistakes today, can't wait to discover its capabilities over the next year.

Man I love motorcycling... Here's my 12 year trip.

It all started with a 1989 Hurricane

Which was a fantastic albeit heavy bike!

Then came time for an upgrade to something more modern, a Fazer.

Which was a great learning platform for twisties. It catches amateur mistakes and lets you enjoy the ride without fatal consequences. A really perfect second bike.

But I was always interested in the thunder of a V4. So I made the move to VFR's. And fell in love!

I moved overseas and found out pops had sold my Miata and VFR while I was gone. Bummer. But when I came back, I decided to try out a 6th gen. It was a nicer motorcycle but not a better motorcycle, if that makes sense.

Life moved on, jobs changed, apartments changed and I lacked space, so it had to go but eventually a new apartment with parking allowed for another one to arrive. This time with ABS, ooo-la-la!

Then I needed to slow down... I noticed I was consistently going too fast on public roads and decided to quit while I was ahead. Life changed again, I moved in with my missus and got that itch to be back on two - so I decided a different approach could work. A VTX1800. Loads of fun, I used to steal pop's cruisers (Vulcans, VTX's, Fatboys, etc.) when I was in High School for a quick run to Vegas!

The story about that picture is, I had been riding the VTX for about a year and was on the 91 and took a metal pipe to my left arm blowing out a vein, luckily missing the artery. Two cars upfront ran over debris which arced in a parabolic fashion, spinning as it flew - thankfully it didn't make contact with my neck or head. Anyway, I was hospitalized and needed some time to recover. I debated quitting motorcycling but knew it wouldn't last. And to prove I could get back on the horse, that picture was a 1k ride to the Sequoias I took with my father, first full ride after the accident.

Pops had his m/c club and I grew tired of the V-twin buzz. So I looked around and then the adventure bug bit!

It infected my father and brother too, who still rides his XR on the weekends to Gorman. We've had 4x KLR650's, 1x DR650, 2x XR650L 1x XR650R

My wife became interested in getting her M1 license, so she got a lowered Ninja 650R as a present after completing her class. She decided ultimately it wasn't for her after a few drill sessions with the bike at our local church. I ended up riding it for a season.

Anticipating some cross country rides with my old man, I decided to sell our bikes and consolidate to one, my first new bike, too!

Which I'm still sporting today. Unfortunately pops went down hard on the 60 after getting clipped by a car. He survived but shattered his pelvis and broke multiple bones. At his age, it doesn't heal quickly. So he sold his F6B and we never made it out for any rides. But I'm always happy to take the Suzi out for any reason!

@Re_Invention

You perfectly summarized the mental illness known as motorcycling.

Have you discovered scooters yet? Nothing quite like ripping around town at 10/10ths and dragging frame in most corners because it's the only way to keep up with traffic.

Cheers Decay

I in fact dabbled with a 150 many years ago. But after a thorough cleaning and helping, she went off to a high bidder who was a Los Angeles Italian transplant that only drove Alfa's. Very interesting lady.

I've always been partial to the larger motorcycles. I'm 6'2 ~240 lbs and appreciated the VFR's dimensions over sport/standard bikes. I wouldn't mind throwing a leg over a K1300S someday.

Old Vespa? Or Stella? Either way, sweet shifter!

Every trip to the store on my little 50cc two stokes is like a qualifying session. I've since removed the fairings for more lean angle :p

Just got my first bike this summer. 2007 Kawi Ninja 250R. Nice little compliment for the car. Is it ever hard choosing which one to take on the nice days though.

I want this, I want it bad...

The first reviews have been coming out over the last few days, I think this would be the perfect upgrade for me next year.

so I got a pair of these for Christmas:

https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/...n-covert-jeans

but they super long(like most pants) so my GF got them hemmed. just so happens it's a bit to much. looks fine in my riding boots but I can't wear them with regular shoes which is kinda why I wanted the jeans. so for a short ride some where and still look like regular jeans.

so if anyone is thinking about getting a pair and is a little shorter than me I'll give you $30 and send these if you will send me the same pair. just buy it online and have it shipped to me.

I'm 5'11 230. so I think if you're 5'9" or less these will be perfect.

edit: they are a size 36
