Same here! Two dealers asked me $8K+ over the MSRP. They were very comfortable telling me it’s a chance for us to make money and told me premium models w/wo PP could be MSRP. NY (close to city) NJ and CT is crazy (at least no luck for me). In addition, tired to see the $600+ Doc Fee and the surprising VIN Fee. One dealer gave me OTD of $53K+

After searching/waiting for 6 months (wanted the BRZ again) decided to go with the GR86 since they started to fill the lots. Thanks for those sharing the 86 allocation sheet! Found 12 special editions within 300 mile radius. Visited, called and emailed all but most wanted a min 5K markup. Finally found mine 275 miles away. Car was on the allocation list but not on the website. Called, confirmed it’s in transit. Arrived last Friday. Did drive sealed the deal and turned back. Yesterday, booked a hotel enjoyed the new places and grabbed my new toy. Feels fantastic. Will miss the MY19 BRZ but this one is something different. Drove 300 miles today and enjoyed every single moment.
GR dual exhaust, subwoofer and a few more things.

Best is I got it for the MSRP. Not a penny up or down.

So here’s my experience:

I had been considering a few different options over the last couple years as I continued daily driving my Hakone 86. After getting into instructing at NASA and having the opportunity to be in a variety of GR cars, I got the chance to ride with a guy in his GR86 with just some coilovers and some 17” wheels on RT660s and noticed a pretty big difference in speed and handling compared to the first gen. Enough so that it became a serious contender.

I told myself if I could find a white base MT as MSRP, I’d probably do it. Well, the dealer down the street where I had bought my Hakone happened to have just that. Have them a call. Told them what I wanted. Showed up. Went back and forth for maybe 10min tops and they got me what I wanted, to include the value for my Hakone I traded in, and MSRP for the new car.

So now I have a Halo 2024 GR86 and couldn’t be happier.

it's amazing the quantity of gr's compared to brz within 200, 300 & 500 miles from me. may have to switch nameplates when it comes time. to them a sale is a sale, brand loyalty likely won't matter. just depends who wants to play ball or play games i guess.

The dealers around me asking for %20 markups are asking only for the Trueno edition. He apparently told me I can give you a PP base or premium with msrp. According to the GR86 allocation list that someone shared (I found my car from there) there were only 4 premiums with PP.

So they know special edition is selling and they just wait for it. The maximum they went down from the 8.5K markup was 1500K

Ridiculous
