And is it worse to have fake looking items or unused items? This is what most of the industry is about.
Right, then the fake ground effect of the year goes out of fashion and you're stuck with something ridicule worthy that will more often than not hurt resale value.

I feel so attacked by this post! How dare you make fun of my STI body kit!

I can’t tell if you are being serious, but in case you missed it, the picture was trying yo illustrate the irony of a muddy car next to a shiny, lifted, “off-road”, 4x4 truck that probably never goes off road and takes speed bumps at 1mph. When styling a vehicle to someone’s tastes, appearances are greater than intended function for the majority of owners.

I would prefer the balance of a knock ridden, underpowered boxer motor over a v6. What was Toyota thinking?

Someone should do a swap with this. If it can do 0-60 in .6-.8 sec faster then the 86 at almost 1k lbs heavier. The 86 could be a reliable NA beast. And maintain oem toyota spec.

It wouldn't be 1000 lbs heavier. Few hundred tops and it would be way faster and more reliable.

Camry is Curb weight: 3,549 lbs
86 is Curb weight: 2,776 lbs

so your right Camry is only 773lbs more.

I've explained this photo before. These guys both went offroading together and then stopped at Waffle House afterwards for a meal.

The difference is the guy on the right didn't follow the guy on the left through the car wash because he was afraid he would have no paint left on his car once it was clean.

That's not all engine weight

Who ever said it was? The Camry is about 800 pounds heavier, not sure what is so complicated to understand... it does 0-60 in 5.8seconds the 86 is listed between 6.4-6.6sec that is .6-.8 seconds faster then the 86 at 800lbs heavier weight. If that engine was swapped to the 86 being 800lbs lighter than the Camry, one would assume the 86 would be doing well under 5.8sec 0-60, probably 4.5-4.8sec 0-60.

Misunderstood you're original post. I'll bet a v6 could be done and be around 3100lbs. Not that it'll happen but would be nice.

sorry for the late reply to this post, but if you look at Honda Civic Type-Rs all day, you'd understand the same thing corporate executives understand: there's a huge market for this type of car.

Honda can't keep up with demand for the Type-R, plain and simple. Hate on the car all we want but it sells and the demand isn't slowing down.

For years, people complained about the Camry being too plain or boring. Now Toyota does something wild to it, and everyone complains about the mods.

And that's before the A/T software updates to reduce shift shock and allow redline sequential shifts. The early production transmissions were tuned for fuel economy and drew enough complaints from V-6 owners for Toyota to issue two free dealer installed updates so far.

I once did a friendly stoplight sprint in my wife's former Camry, a 268hp V-6 6A/T XLE vs. an early production 301hp V-6 8A/T XSE and pulled him by over a car length to 60 after something in his car cut power on the 1-2 shift and not from wheelspin. We tried again, him using the paddles, same result.
