Which is easier? FRS front or BRZ headlights?

Changing the brz bumper to frs is WAY easier then going frs with brz headlights. Youll have strange issues changing headlights. The frs could have issues with the halos, and youd need to run an extra harness for headlight levelling. Sometimes for non hid cars that have hid optional, they have different gauge Wire harnesses too, sometimes the plugs are altogether different too.

When I said HID, I meant the BRZ headlights with HID. It's too much work to do a retrofit and plug n play hid's are terrible.

We'll see what happens next year, but I'll most likely get a BRZ and put a FRS front end on it :p

I was thinking this too...a wrb frs..with a toyota gt like interior ...awesome! But by the time i get around to it therell be a new fascia for both. Who knows. Maybe subaru updates their bumper and everyone will want THAT

I would get the BRZ and swap the bumper, trying to get a good HID kit and wiring it up properly will be a lot more of a pain.

fr-s u can buy quality hids and installing them is a simple step by step, thanks to the not so crammed engine bay you can easily tuck them so its clean. i doubt the "non hid ready projectors" will make much a difference and if it does fix it.

lol ive installed many HID kits on projector headlights including my friends '09 scion xB and they look AMAZING. the light usually lines up perfectly and there never appears to be any distorted areas in the displayed light. No damaged has been done to any parts either. I guess ill be one of the only guys doing aftermarket hids... ill post up pics once this happens

You either must care more about the look than function or don't know what true HID look like. Its been done and posted and the results aren't anywhere close to looking like true HID.

See how there a bunch of light above the "cutoff" the light is clearly being projected in a different pattern than true HID. Now instead of shoving HIDs into projector headlights and saying that its just as good why don't you do things right and retrofit some HID projectors in there. The difference is huge.

+1 on this. Can't say that FRS projectors are any good, but some halogen projectors have nicer beam patterns than some OEM HID projectors. This includes all Toyotas I've seen - Celica (halogen projector w/kit looks better than factory HIDs), 4Runner, tC, xB, and MR2.

Couple pics of my MR2 (came with halogen projectors from the factory), with "squirrel finders" blocked (no more light above the cutoff), with an aftermarket 4500k HID kit. It looks more yellow because of my "jdm yellow" fogs - I like the extreme color contrast because I feel like I get run off the road less often.

edit: Ok, the beam on the FRS looks pretty crappy in the pics posted by TRS (linked in the above post). Might not be a good candidate. A lens swap may help if there's a suitable replacement out there. Kinda sucks since the previous halogen Toyota projectors (made by Koito or Stanley I think) were pretty awesome.

Mr.Jay that's a good example. and coming from the guy that actually did it and saw it (DarrenDriven) read his 3rd comment down. he basically says the photo exaggerates a lot of the unnecessary light, as opposed to what it looked like in real life. and real life is whats important. he also says he couldnt tell a difference. and YES there is a difference...engineers didnt design the frs headlights perfectly for HID's. Not a harsh enough difference to recommend a more expensive car + bumper swap over an HID kit.
