It has to use the included overpipe. Because of the merge collector, the flange is not in the stock location.

Are you sure it's stainless? From what I've read it's coated mild steel. Probably won't be an issue since these cars have a beefy undertray and relatively clean engine compartment. I had a coated mild steel downpipe on my wrx back in the day...it disintegrated in about a few years but it was far more exposed than the headers on the 86.

Btw, what I have is the prototype exhaust and intake they built. They are local and have done custom work for my autox buddies. PPE needed a donor car and I had one.

Besides their own label, PPE does production work building exhaust parts for other companies.

We are a PPE dealer, and we do a ton of 1ZZ/2ZZ business. Their normal Toyota headers are painted or ceramic coated mild steel. They do offer just about everything they make in stainless for a slight up-charge however. I will contact Paul today about pricing and materials and see if he would like us to do some dyno testing and build a tune for the system.

I like PPE a lot - they are great people and make a quality product.

Interested in updates too.. I think mild steel is the standard PPE makes them in. But you can upgrade to stainless steel for more $$..?

We talked to PPE and as things currently stand they are going to send us a full exhaust system for testing and tuning. We will publish the stock tune results and also offer an ECUTEK basemap designed to go with the system. They are REALLY busy however, so it may be a while.

We should have one of the first units here next week. I ordered several when we placed our last Mazda order. I will have dyno sheets for you shortly.

BTW, stay tuned for a very cool package deal featuring the PPE header, pipe, Ecutek ProEcu tuning cable and license, and Dynotronics calibrations for one very nice price!
