trying to understand 'supra' TRD style vented fender

So bored at work I started dabling in aero and all the fun stuff that comes with it.
And I started to focus on high pressure build up in the wheel wells and how it *could potentially* cause lift. Which is where vented fenders or something like the RB fenders would help prevent any possible lift/high pressure zone blshblah
So! I'm trying to understand how the MK4 TRD fenders wwould have accomplished this as I'm sure that was the point?
correct me if I'm wrong but generally when you have a vent to a flat faced surface such as this or even the TRD hood air gets trapped due to the fast moving air above it causing some sort of wind barrier.
Basically is it effective like that or just 'pretty looking'
I ask this because I'm toying in replicatinng parts in fibreglass and CF and have always loved the TRD supra stuff and have thoughts about possibly bringing it over to this platform

The high pressure in the wheel house, will be higher than the flow along the body, and the air will move from high pressure to low, seeking equalization.
