Now you've got me thinking about going Ichi!

The event isn't until Nov 18th. It could happen.

It certainly sounds like fun .

Not with the way they're going international and also the pay scale with union would make that different. Especially in California where labor laws are not only making it hard on employers, but also employees... Taking lunch on time an issue with anyone else?

It will be cheaper if they shipped them out of Japan, not only that but they need to boost their own economy. I'm all for Japanese built at this point.

I don't know if you know what JDM means...

Japanese Direct Market...

Yours will never be JDM for that it will always be bound for the US being left hand drive... so USDM

Even if it is left hand drive. The country of origin is still Japan so it's still JDM in my eyes.

It's where the vehicle is originally marketed to, not where it's built/where it originated.

The whole point of defining USDM or JDM is so you can tell where the car originated/was originally sold. If we didn't specify USDM or JDM then only Japanese cars would be JDM, and only cars built in the US would be USDM. In which case we'd just mention the country of origin insted of stating USDM or JDM...

Has nothing to do with it. Lots of US cars are made in Canada, so were f-bodies, crown vics, etc sold in the US really CDM? What about accords made in the US but shipped to Japan, those are all USDM?

Nope. It's based on the market the car was built FOR, not built IN.

Your logic is flawed when it comes to the American cars made in Canada because Canada is apart of America, N.America specifically. I'm talking about a Japanese carmaker that built their car in Japan. Now if Toyota builds a Toyota in America it's generally because it's a totally different looking car from its Japanese counterpart. This car will look identical everywhere in the world with the only difference being left hand drive and a Scion badge.

It's not the same as Honda building a civic for the EU market vs the US market. They look totally different inside and out.

Is this discussion really happening? JDM = Japanese Domestic Market = Cars that are SOLD in Japan. USDM = US Domestic Market = Cars that are SOLD in America. Where the car is *built* has nothing to do with it.
