Throw out bearing blew and took out the clutch but that was my own fault for not getting it fixed when it first started making noises. Other than that just tires and wiper blades. Still one the original brakes.

16km round trip. I'm thankful I don't need to get on a freeway for my commute, but I do wish I got to drive my 86 over 60kph more often.

55 miles round trip. I have driven the same stretch of road approx. 4500 times. I know it like the back of my hand. (because I just stare at the back of my hand all the time! LOL)

64 km round trip every day for work.

Between work, errands, and the occasional spirited drive for fun I'm usually putting between 400-500km / week on the car. I usually do a few 1000 km round-trip drives during spring/summer every year.

22 months of ownership and 41,000km driven so far.

So how does it work with the American version of the 86? Do they use special bolts with AF heads?

They are all the same. They just have to buy a new set of tools.

I'm with spuds on this. The twins are a bit too loud for highways. Especially with the new final drive.

I commute 48 miles a day and 3/4 is highway.

I drove 10,000 miles in 5 months in my BRZ, about 60 miles one way. Half was on country roads, half was freeway. Lots of middle of the night driving with zero traffic. BRZ was perfect for commuting. I was able to actually hit a tad over 40 mpg one tank, and was always above 35 even when it was freezing. I have no idea what people have in their car to complain about passing power. Even in 6th I had enough power to pass anything I wanted to, whether I was going 55 or 80.

Of course now I walk 600 meters to work every day.

Everything you said is also true, but when I drive the FRS to work, I prefer to take back roads time penalties be damned.
Those are all things you can fix yourself quite easily. I had a friend that was able to use different types of sound deadener and actually even made it so you could not hear the windshield wiper motor. His car was so quiet when the system he built was not on it was amazing. SQ guys know how to quiet a car.

'Fixing' those things changes what the car is. I'm not going to raise the ride height just to be better on the highway in the rain where it's not particularly fun anyway. That's like cutting the head off a golf club so it's easier to play pool with. I like my FRS for what it is, but what it is not is a great highway cruiser. There's nothing 'wrong' with it's capability to drive on the highway, and if it were my only car I would be (and have been) fine with the trade-off.

~7 miles each way. My office recently moved locations, and while the distance stayed virtually identical, I'm now 100% on secondary roads now, rather than a divided state highway with traffic lights. Potholes and assholes are still everywhere.

60 miles one way.

I'm glad I'm in a position where the BRZ is not my only car. It's not bad to drive on the highway in general, but it wouldn't be my first choice to do this particular commute in. Lots of trucks, lots of bad road.... people in this area seem to be blind to the bright blue car with HIDs and I feel like I almost get hit every single time I drive the thing.
