I think some of you are missing the point of the 4 cylinder Supra (which may or may not make it over here). Toyota himself said he wanted to produce a cheaper version of the Supra with a 4-cylinder specifically for engine swapping. They're just throwing in the cheapest motor they can for people who are going to remove it immediately anyway.

I wonder who is going to be the first to say "the Supra's 6 cylinder is underpowered and too slow but at least it's not a 86/BRZ!" ?

Actual the common consensus seems to be that it is so under powered that the 86/BRZ looks good in comparison. This of course is hilarious since nobody making that statement could possibly have driven one yet!

And Jack Hollis who is the man for North America has unequivocally stated it is NOT coming here. Wanting to make one and it coming to the US are not the same statement. Besides "Toyota" didn't say that Tada did. In the UK where it probably will be available.

But does it have an arm rest? Why on Urf did they design a car that does not recall the original in any way?

Since this is not a "JDM" car, and a partnership between Japan and Germany, will this be known as an A(xis) Domestic Market car?

Only if the interior is done in Italian leather.

He knew that the forced 335hp figure would not be popular. BMW does not want this to overshadow the Z4.

Japanese design, German chassis, American engine. But how many people will still get pissed off at this epitome of sacrilege?

Even a 4cyl Supra will cost significantly more than an 86. There's no real competition honestly. Toyota's Yaris and Corolla weren't killed by the more refined Camry.

If the 86 dies, it won't be because of the Supra, which is like 15k more expensive.

I don't mind picking up a used supra few years down the road if it's proven reliable.... I don't mind supra killing the 86 too but probably not possible..... due to the huge price difference even with 4 banger supra.

Isn't that the best of all 3 put together?...

Rode in a E39 M5.... I couldn't wrap my mind around how the chassis moves so gracefully as it slides? For a car from 1998?.....

From that bottom, stock OE picture ( what it should look like this year) = Fugly. I hear the new Supra chasis is stiffer / stonger then the 86 by ... 20% or so , and it supposidly has a lower COG ( by how many millimeters , I'm not sure) , if they measured from the correct center to ground.

A big part of it comes down to 1. cost of ownership (not just initial purchase price , if that's $15-18k more , but also gas consumption) , and 2.what transmission you prefer.

10 or so years down the road, the only manual cars will most likely be offered in real deal sports cars , and even then it'll depend on the model/make if they offer a manual or not. If they do, who knows they may charge more for it then a Auto. The demand for manuals will be there, but they'll probably produce less manuals ( like 25% manual , 75% auto)
