I wonder if this platform will have the new B58 3.0L inline 6 turbo from BMW in it?

This engine is smooth as butter and capable of great numbers.
Its currently in the m240i which makes 335hp and 369ftlbs torque.

And a simple tune upping the boost can get over 400hp 415ftbls torque.

Seems pretty likely.

I think that might be a bit low... however the purchase price is not what concerns me. With this particular joint venture I am far more concerned what the service and parts cost for this car will be along with the reliability.

As the ex-owner of some expensive German cars that shall remain nameless, it was never the purchase price that hurt in the long run... and I tend to keep cars that I like a long time.

I know there were worries it wouldn't happen until later this year, but this would be good. I presume they will at least give powertrain details at NYC, but they won't share price, however they will open the order books for reservations because once they reveal the $70K price and scare everyone off it'll all be over!!!

Kinda glad it's not a V-6.
