Not this one, but plenty are.

Many felt that Dan should have been allowed to keep the points but the manufacturer points be pulled.

I think the right outcome occurred. Otherwise the teams would just do whatever they wanted, let the driver take the points and wear the fine etc. Crazy talk.

The rules were the same for everyone, RBR felt they could do whatever they liked and found out that wasn't the case.

I love Dan as a driver though, he has been giving it to Vettel lately. lol. Bet Seb is not a happy camper atm. hehe

I had a feeling Mercedes would do well this year. Their cars are also the best looking in my opinion (without the goofy looking nose). That turbo/compressor layout is very clever. Although I do miss the sound of the old engines, I like the new technology and seeing new winners.

I wonder if the rules allow for the other engine suppliers to be able to change their design to match the Mercedes this year? If not, it's pretty clear Mercedes will win this year.

So Alonso looks good after FP1 and FP2... Let's see how badly Mercedes were sandbagging in Qualy later tonight. Should be on at 11pm local PST time.

Extrapolating that out, it would have added about 23 seconds onto his time (23.2 if exactly 0.4s per lap). This would have given his final time 47.7s behind Rosberg, and slotted him into 6th place, just ahead of Nico Hulkenberg and just behind Valtteri Bottas. Assuming all things went the same. Should have just played by the rules, because that would have been 8 points... instead of 0.

NBCSN (DirecTV channel 220) has qualifying at 1-2:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Pre-race at 2:30-3 a.m. and the race from 3-5 a.m. Not sure about a streaming link...........

Maldanado not having a good weekend. Spun out in practice session one fiddling with the steering wheel and then in practice session two spun and hit the wall coming into the pits and tore the right front suspension off.

Watching Friday nights practice broadcast now and Hamilton just came out and went to the top of the board.........

Qualifying was actually held this morning, watching it now. Sunday a.m. is a repeat broadcast. Qualifying is in the rain.......

Maldanado's woes continue.... lost an engine in practice session 3 and has a 5 space grid penalty and Wil Buxton says he'll be starting the race from Beijing......

Wow... Kimi can't get into Q3--so much for the Alonso/Raikonnen rivalry, so far...

And--reveling in Riciarrdo outperforming Vettel, once again. As some of us have felt, he's very talented--but seemingly overrated...
