Yeah to me it seems that the foam gasket is where the water is getting by into the back, then into the small holes around the bulb socket openings. Notice in the pic below, how little bits of leaves/dirt is getting caught on the adhesive which only seems to cover the top portion of the foam gasket. As flimsy as the gasket is, I can see how even just removing the tails once could ruin the integrity of the foam gasket's seal against the lens housing or against the body panels. I'm thinking if you put a ring of silicone or other similar substance around the gasket before installing it, it will help keep the water out of the back?

By the way, when removing the tail light housings, the 4 nuts holding it on are 8mm (5/16" works too). Another thread said it was 10mm. A 8mm deep socket or ratcheting wrench are easiest. I'll document all these steps incase it works well, then I can use it for a DIY.

can someone link to the full TSB for this issue? I have tried searching 5 different ways and can't find it, and I'm not about to go read through 14 pages of this thread hoping to find it. Would be nice if someone who posted in the first page of this thread could link to it so at least it would be easier to find.
Specifically I would like to see the instructions to reinstall the housing, what the torque specs are and what the proper sequence of tightening the bolts is.

I suck with the pen tool, but here's a rough template for the gasket. I ordered a sheet of 1/4" thick neoprene foam, I'll keep this thread updated with the results of the testing.

Both my lights have been ordered, I'll keep you posted on how the install goes. It's been 3 weeks and they still aren't in.

Seeing some slight condensation coming back in both of the tail lights, this is after they were already replaced a few weeks ago.

Does anyone know is this issue has been rectified by toyota in later builds? I just pulled the trigger on an FRS and it is on its way from the land of the rising sun as we speak--should be here the 28th. Been reading all the horrible issues in this part of the forum and for some reason the only one that really bothers me is this notorious condensation issue. I am also subscribing hoping the member that is going to test a thicker foam gasket finds a cure. These kinds of problems are generally fixed by the popular effort of the community rather than the manufacturer; glad we have some trouble shooters on our side; I'm rooting for you guys!

I have posted my DIY for making your own neoprene foam tail light gaskets here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26217.
I have yet to extensively test the new gaskets. It's raining tonight, but it's supposed to be sunny and warm tomorrow so I'll do my testing then.
