Someone hit my door..Whiteout :(

I was driving and then heard a thump. I look to my right and see an old woman had hit me. We pull to some parking lot and she told me she was trying to get over and didn't see me. I know it's a low car, but damn :/. The officer showed up to file the report and said he couldn't tell who was right or wrong in the accident..so her insurance won't pay for the car. She lied to the cop and said I didn't know where I was going and swerved to hit her! By the way my car has been hit, it's pretty obvious that she hit me...but anyways, I have full coverage, but how much would the door cost? for the passenger side?

Sorry for what happened, but we really can't answer that question for you. It varies on prices with local body shops around your area. Go to one and get a estimate, but I suggest go to a few before you actually choose one, some could be cheaper than others.

you're right, but I would rather replace the door entirely than just get it fixed. They can paint it and undent it out, but it'll still never be the same..

I just figured since some people are able to find stock part prices from part numbers, it would be the same for the door..

Karma

I feel sorry for the woman. her conscious is now going to eat at her for she knows the truth. Something bad will now happen to her, always does to A- holes. This could have all been avoided with the truth and $1000-$1500. I would pay out of pocket and not use insurance. Save insurance for a larger claim.

Blah, I hate liars.

I swear, every one of these threads makes the idea of buying a dash cam just a little more palatable. It may not show her hitting you, but it WOULD show that you weren't swerving and weaving around in the road like... well like an old person.

There are three sides to every story. Yours, theirs, and the truth. The dashcam is the third side that will save you money in situations like this. Too bad in the US we don't get discounts for having cameras like they do in Russia. The dashcam footage of stupid drivers posted to YouTube would explode.

It is very unfortunte that they damaged your car and chose to be dishonest, best of luck getting it fixed soon!

I think you have a case if you get a good lawyer. You can see that the front of her tire left a darker mark. That would only happen if she was turned into you. If you came over into her, her wheel would have been turned away from you.

I hate old people saying crap. My friend was at a red light on a motorcycle. Turned green and went , lady pulled out in front of him. He ended up getting out of her way but slamming his body into a pole. Old old lady told the cops he was pretty much racing though traffic....Wtf

i had a similar situation when i was younger. i was turning left into my bank and a lady in a minivan started going hitting my rear wheelwell. she also tried to say i hit her then called her military husband to come to the scene. the cops showed up and said she is at fault but it was on private property(my bank) so nothing they say matters. i got screwed

Damn that damage was painful to look at, sorry to see that man.

Also unbelievable that people would try to lie their way out of something like that, especially an older woman. You would expect they would know better at that age.

The cost for a lawyer would wash out any money you might gain from his services.

I think a better idea is to get a good solid estimate for the damage, take some good photos as you have here (It strongly indicates her front left tire was pointed to the left). Next file against her in small claims court for the damage to your car, what ever the going rate is for mileage to persue all of this, projected cost of a rental car and anything else you can think of. The cost to file in small claims court is cheap. She will have to appear without being represented and with your evidence there's a good chance the judge will believe your version. There's also a good chance that she might decide it's not worth the effort, contact her insurance company and "fess up".

Your insurance company should be able to settle at 50/50 and give you your deductible once everything has been paid. Depending on your state of course.
