I hold a deep appreciation for older BMW's, as I just bought my second E30 3 series, a 1991 318is. I looked at a couple E28 535is's as well, but their complete lack of fuel efficiency turned me away. Now I'm looking at maybe getting an E24 635csi, maybe. I like the late 80's Bimmers because like many cars of their era, they were just far enough out of the dark ages of carburetors and solid rear axles, but not too far into the age of overweight, electronics-laden cars from the 90's. Bulletproof, solid cars that are easy to work on and rewarding to drive. I like the E36, E39, E90/92 and E60 M cars, but not much else since then. The new 3 series with the N20 is pretty exciting, I'll admit. However after working in sales for Audi and driving most of both carmakers' cars, I can say that I'd take an Audi over a BMW in most cases if I were looking at a brand new model. *flame suit on* I wouldn't really complain to own any model from either, however. To quote my "Truth in Audi" instructor, "anything from Bavaria, Ingolstadt, or Stuttgart is welcome in my driveway".

I live in Massachusetts. There are no good roads.
(I'm being slightly sarcastic, but there really aren't any good places to open up an S4 in eastern MA.)

And it's not like BMWs and Audis are the only cars that will do sustained triple digit speeds. My GTOs would lope along at 150 until I drained the tank. My G35 would have at 120 easily. 150 would have been a stretch on gearing. Never absolved me of the obligation to signal, allow people into traffic, and generally be courteous to other drivers so long as they were courteous to me.

yeah, those pics are all over the Internet. I think it looks okay, kinda like a smaller 6-series coupe. What I really don't like is that "vent" behind the front wheels. I don't know if it's functional or not (I doubt it is), but either way they really should have left that out. Maybe the production version of the car won't have it.

I had an E36 M3 coupe that I purchased new (it was the last year, a 99 model) because I wanted to own one before they stopped making them. I honestly don't think I ever said one of those things from the video. The funny thing about that is the way things change as cars start to age and decrease in value. Before you know it, a whole new demographic emerges and you end up with shit like that being said by the "new" owners. |

New lights will most likely be smaller. Will probably look much better! Quite impressive to get a facelift that soon, much faster than expected! |
