Rob wanted to get a large sample size testing out the tech. This is really a new category of forced induction and there(before us) wasnt very many hard numbers around it.

He wanted to make sure his hardware could stand up to the heat of arizona, the cold of canada and everything in between.

He also had to vet out his "Kit".....for example the battery hookup location has been improved based on user feedback so that all the "production" kits get the upgrade from the get go.

Basically because this is so new Rob really wanted to test it out so he didn't get burnt if there was any faults with the design of the kit.

The one thing he didn't get was the 2-3 tanks per week test which I could have provided

Fenton is being totally straight with you guys. Its difficult to appreciate the complexity of taking a new technology like this to the market-place, where smart dummies like me (another platform) will play with it. In the end the kit has to be practically bullit proof, and dead reliable, before you can actually mass-market it.

You guys with the FRS's, and BRZ's are soon going to benefit from this work over the last year or so, and I figure are going to be the first guys to get the kits! The rest of the crowd is going to have to wait until other "developer kits", like mine go through their trials. I'll add that Rob has show extraordinary patience and understanding in my own "developement process", and is one of the most dedicated entreprenures, I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. This is a new performance adding technology, being developed by a person that really cares that it does what it claims, and is very reliable, for performance enthusiasts. Information and the actual stuff have had to be distributed to the best and the brightest, ( and some slightly less brilliant-me) to prove and test this thing, but you guys are getting the benefits first!

I'll bet their being put together right now. Hang on guys... Your going to have some fun!

I will add that when I installed the kit everything fit perfectly, all the wires were colored coded and were the right length. The mounting holes were all located in the right position. Rob supplied plastic conduit for the wires. A billion dollar company couldn't have fabricated it any better.

I've been lurking here for a while. Just wondering if I'm reading this correctly. Does this mean with this kit installed a tune is necessary if we want to floor it in low rpms?

Unless you neuter the system yes you need a tune to fully realize the gain. You could run the boost limiter but what fun would that be.?

To be fair I ran stock tune for 2 weeks and it worked fine (with cel). You just had to go Wot at about 3000 rpm in 3rd gear and above.

It is safest to run a tune.

I couldn't even engage at 3000 without the CEL. Moreover, the AFR is too lean without a tune and timing has to be pulled a little to avoid detonation.

Yes, it is safest to run a tune. There are tuning options to meet almost every need and budget.

Quick update here: The Phantom SC TQ250 (and TQ300) have been performing flawlessly on our shop car for the last two weeks. I've become so enamored with the way it drives that I'm putting one on our new shop Miata.

I'll be honest, at first I was a little skeptical about the low full throttle triggering approach which, at the time, felt like a compromise. But after a lot of seat time, I find it to be perfectly enjoyable and controllable. Not having belt whine all the time or having to deal with partial throttle surges is quite nice. But what I really enjoy what all that extra torque down low (and especially in the midrange) does for general drivability. It moves. A lot faster than the dyno numbers would suggest too. I'm smitten. And I haven't even finished tuning yet

Cheers,
Shiv

How are your numbers looking with the header? And were you able to smooth out the flutter we kept getting at the top end?

Wheels came in, passed with flying colors!

Thanks @shiv for the update.

Regarding the WOT switch: Myself, and with feedback from @fenton and @Bu-Tang, spent alot of time programming the accel / decel to provide a smooth ramp up and BOV free method.

Look forward to the dyno, and possibly manipulating the ETC to match the 'ramp'.

Do y'all have any good idea about what this kit is going to run for? Also, is intercooling recommended? I'm assuming so, b/c the blower is still heating up the charge air.

We are not certain what the price will be yet.

Intercooling is not recommended because the boost is relatively low in this system. In our testing the compression was not a detriment to the performance without cooling.

Considering it only runs at about 3 to 2psi at higher RPM it isnt increase the charge temperature that much....certainly alot less than a twin screw supercharger would.

Thanks,
