When I felt the dash and discovered it wasn't hard plastic, I ordered a dash cover. I was wondering if it was a waste of money, but maybe not. It definitely cut down the reflection of the dash in the windshield. Hope you get your dash sorted out soon.

I believe the dash is place on via an adhesive so maybe heavy heat burned it off? You're not the only one with an FR-S in a hot climate someone else has this problem too probably, Get it taken in anyway and tell us what you find.

My FR-S live in 110+ heat all day in Arizona and I have never had this problem. I do have a custom dash-mat and use my heat shield sun visor as much as possible. I'm sure it's nothing to major, you should look into some ways to cover it up if it's in direct sunlight.

I noticed this too. But sit in the passenger seat and take a look as well at the opposite side you are sitting. They will most likely match. I thought mine was coming off over the right center vent but the left center is the same. Optical illusion in my opinion. I know exactly what you are talking about though.

from the drivers side that had me curious. ( I AM NOT THE OP, just my observations too. )

Then the passenger side. Not much difference. I honestly believe I did not really notice until I had the car for a few months. It was still winter in Nebraska so heat was the least of my worries.

When you look head on, it is even across the vents. Pure optical illusion.

My take on dash mats. I always use as the lack of windscreen reflection (especially with black mats) is great. You do not appreciate the difference until you try it. Put any black dull fabric on a bit of dash with the sun shining in the 'screen and see the "black hole" area not-reflecting in the glass.

I also skin the underside with aluminium foil to insulate. I can tell you that when I removed such a mat from a seventeen year old car which I have has since new, the dash was in MINT condition. I was actually surprised myself. That car has seen plenty of time out in sunny Australian days.

The foil idea has backfired somewhat with the GPS in the new car by a shielding effect. I have had to reposition the antenna and remove an area of foil.
