I have test driven a Genesis Coupe...my ass is too wide for the seat. I was sitting on top of the bolsters. OUCH!

You folks seem like a great community too. That's important when it comes time for upgrades and problems.

Love the suggestion to do a weekend test drive. Heck. I'd be happy if I could get an overnight loan and do another review video. Just gotta find a dealer or owner who'll let me do it.

apex seals... anyways some dealers are great tell them your doing a promotional video and you will shout them out a ton maybe even where one of their golf/tshirts you'd be surprised but I like to think that this community resembles how the subaru community used to be. But it's a great platform, a great community and most importantly it's a great car for any age / walk of life.

We'd be happy to have you as well.

Apex seals failing, easily flooded engines, meh mileage and monitoring oil consumption are the reasons why I can never go back to owning another RX-7.

P.S. techs that no nothing of rotaries is another turn off because the shops that are experienced with rotaries are not cheap.

Yeah the rotary engine tech is a dying breed is like one, one day just so I can mess around with it but I never will call my self a rotary tech

It also applies to people without kids and disposable income. Also, realizing getting old sucks coupled with the revelation that you have more days behind you than ahead of you acts like a catalyst.

This is getting depressing................................

Yep. In another 45 years I'll be 90. I don't see making it that long. I live dangerously.

Heck...I'm lucky I'm still here with all the car and motorcycle crashes I've had. Dodge Conquest Turbos don't fair well when they land upside down off a 15' embankment. LOL! That was the car I owned before my RX-7. 150hp that came on like a light switch.

Buy it, Buy it....bought mine because it was/is a midlife crisis car for me.
Practical all my life until I bought this car. Life's short so enjoy it while you can. I'm fifty five and getting younger everyday!
My ex gf thought I was crazy to spend 30K on this car. Then I broke up with her not long after I bought my car.

I'm 46 and 6'3". I've had an FR-S for 5 years now as a daily driver. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. It had a couple of minor issues in the first year or so, but they were promptly looked after by the dealership. The only continuing issue is the squeaky fuel pump (aka the crickets). This car is the most fun I have had on four wheels, and I have had a lot of cars (including the supercharged Mustang that sits beside it in the garage). I also used to ride sportbikes, and now take the FR-S out on the twisty backroads that I used to blast through on the bikes...it is a riot. A car that is this much fun and still manages 30mpg is a winner in my books.

Yep, I get the 'mid-life' comment. I've owned 2x TA22 Celicas, 1x RA23 Celica, 3x AW11 MR2s and a 2012 86. I still have an AW11

Forgot to mention, kids are 11 and 13, they fit in the back and love the car.

No.

I didn't read the rest of this thread, so this has probably been addressed, but...

Throw that term away. It's a stupid phrase coined by sexist women, envious young people with no money and covetous losers who have managed to trap themselves in lives they hate, all of whom think they know better how to spend your money than you do. It's none of their business, and you don't have to make any apologies to them by adopting their silly insult.

There's no "crisis." Those of us who buy sports cars in our 40s, 50s and 60s aren't panicking over lost youth. We never lost it. We have just reached the point where we can afford (both monetarily and otherwise) to do what we want, and we deserve to be able to use the fruits of our labor how we see fit without some judgmental fool slapping a label on us in an attempt to make us feel guilty about it.

I finally gave up motorcycles after 20+ years of riding and half a dozen crashes which included a broken ankle, fractured wrist, 3 fractured vertebrae, 6 fractured ribs, 2 concussions, partially collapsed lung, torn rotator cuff and other soft tissue injuries. Folk see middle-aged guys going out an buying motorcycles and call that a 'mid-life crisis'. To me, giving up riding was a mid-life crisis. I just couldn't put my wife and kid through that kind of emotional trauma again, and consider myself lucky I'm still able to rock-climb 3 times a week (indoor gym). After the last crash, there was 6 months when I wasn't sure whether I'd ever be able to rock climb again (due to my shoulder), and that was a real crisis for me.

Folk refer to middle-aged guys buying sports cars and motorcycles as 'mid-life crisis', but I've never really understood that. To me, a real mid-life crisis is not being able to do that because you've been laid off, can't make mortgage payments, can't afford college for the kids, or don't have retirement savings etc. Being able to afford something you enjoy after you've put years of hard work into 'practical' expenditures is a celebration; not a crisis.

The couple of times someone saw my car and said 'mid life crisis, eh?', my response was along the lines of 'Nah, it's a mid-life celebration. It'd be a crisis if I couldn't afford to buy something I want instead of need. I've put my time in; I deserve it."

I like those definitions they are well suited to the 40+ age group buying what they want. It's really refreshing to see that people actually reward themselves because of their hard work often time we don't and then there is this generation that wants a reward just for showing up.
