If I were you I'd save up for the Seagull tourbillon. The simple one with just the time and tourbillon, no other stuff.

What should I add next? I'd like a dressy moon-phase, but only thing I like is the JLC Moon Ultra Thin, which is about $8k plus. So nope.
Oh okay. I want the tarnish cleaned too though so I'll probably go that route.

Yea domestic stuff is worse but I really like some of the designs and the Shanghai watch I got as a present for someone was some pretty damn good bang for the buck considering how it was like $130. Been almost 2 years and AFAIK they're still wearing it, no complaints.

It's not like I can't just go buy the tourbillon (or even a Grand Sieko or Omega or a more basic JLC), it's that it would be an unwise financial decision lol. When my bank account hits 6 digits (it's at 4 LOL) I may buy one.

I'm not really into moon phase but I guess it's kind of nice to have in the collection. With my 2 watches I barely get to rotate between them.

Picked this up last week. Just a beautiful piece. I've wanted a panda dial for a while.

Maybe pack it in rice, always something I hear recommended when a phone gets wet.

What size wrist do you have? You make that PAM look small. 44mm right?

I'm not sure of my wrist size. The PAM510 is 44mm though.

I had a 40mm Panerai that was just too small for me.

My Seadweller and Orange Monster are both 40mm. I think 42-44 is the perfect size for my wrist.

Is buying a watch online without 'trying it on' an act of insanity? In this case, there is $145 on the line.

Nope, because you should be able to find the size of the watch online. If you like the style and it's not too big or too small for your taste then go for it.

I've spent much more than that. What watch are you looking at?

If you're buying a "lower end" watch, then I wouldn't worry about it too much especially if you go through a legitimate watch dealer. Amazon or a dedicated watch retailer is a good start.

If you're buying a "higher end" watch, then I'd definitely ensure you buy through an authorized dealer, unless you don't care about manufacturer warranty. There's a lot of "grey market" watch dealers out there on the web, so beware.

I recently ordered my Casio G-shock aviator watch through Amazon and even though it was still a sub-200 dollar watch, I made sure I ordered from an authorized dealer (when using Amazon, don't go straight to the one listed with the lowest price, look at who it's being sold from and read whether or not you are getting a "seller warranty" or a "manufacturer warranty"). I paid a whopping $7 more for the exact same watch just so I could get my watch from an authorized dealer.

For something that's only $145, I'd assume that there'd be a place where you could try it locally?

I've bought all my watches without "trying it on" beforehand, so I wouldn't sweat it if I were you. Good advice from 53driver though.
