Hmm, that makes sense, Basically, the Scion Version with more commodities (but still the base model for scion) will be more expensive (perhaps $1k-$2k?) than the SUPER bare-bones Toyota for Racing/Tuning Shops. Makes sense

Ah... yes, I don't see the two manual options happening either, although I wonder if a there will be final gear options via TRD/SPT?

As for the ECU, I don't see a tunable ECU as a problem, particularly in California. Usually you have to install other parts (I/H/E and/or FI) that would cause the car to fail smog before they have a chance to plug into the OBD port. As long as those aren't present, there isn't going to be any useful amount of tuning you could do to the ECU that would throw it so far out of whack to fail testing.

*Yes the cabin-plumbed acoustic resonator is gone, whew! In it's place is a larger acoustic chamber not dissimilar to the Gazoo car. You can now be pretty sure the car is MAF, right between the intake elbow and the air filter. This'll give the aftermarket a slight headache.

*LOL stupid little red intake manifold decorative cover.

*I seriously hope they're not done routing the A/C lines; could they possibly have laid them out more haphazardly?! They look awful.

*Interesting to see separate reservoirs for clutch and brake fluid. Speaking of brakes, why the hell is the ABS module way up next to the engine?

*The strut-tower brake is now modular and flimsier, not a big welded-in piece like on the Gazoo race car.

*You can now see the windshield and/or headlight washer reservoir, and the windshield washer nozzles in the plastic cowling under the wipers. The cowling looks ready and willing to scoop up all the autumn leaves; let's hope it doesn't.

*Still not sure if that's really the ECU standing on-end on the right side of the engine. Also, what's that huge black box in the front right of the bay?

Nice to see more engine bay pics. Though I have to say it looks a bit sloppy in there. I'm sure they could've made it look cleaner if they spent 5 minutes routing things neater.

Erm, it's a left-hand driver versus right-hand drive. The brake & clutch reservoir, and by necessity the battery are mirror-imaged.

there is a taller box in front of the alternator, connected to the intake pipe after the MAF. and then there is the flatter, wider box that seems to be connected to the airbox, before the filter. is that yet another acoustic chamber? or a secondary airbox? and if you look at this pic, looks like the tube is there, and is actually attached to the taller box?

makes for a nice and flat hood/bonnet.

if it is, makes for a quick swap to stand alone and thats the fuse box in the front, no?

That's big news.

Edit: I wonder if they're going about this in an Android fashion. A nice conservative ECU for everyday folks that don't care as much about performance, but easily tuned (rooted?) into the 25mpg 230bhp car we know it can be.
