Sorry, I'm confused - is 215/45R-17 larger or smaller than 225/45/17?

215/45/18 is for an 18 inch rim and wont fit stock wheels if you meant that. 225/45/17 is going to be one size bigger than a 215/45/17.

I use the DWS on my Acura TL-S and have no problem with them and that is a heavy powerful FWD car.

it will fit perfectly fine if anything youll have more tread and a bit more tire surface to the ground i may do this size or might just go factory size with way better tires havent decided yet

i actually like the stock rims on my asphalt . i do think they are sharp looking. just i too hate how skinny they look. so you guys are saying 225/40/17 is the widest i can put on this rim? will it look alot fatter at least from behind?

Tires have shipped. I'll snap some pics as soon as I get them mounted. You might be able to go up to a 235 but it will depend on tire and wether you are going for a certain look or ultimate performance.

You probably won't notice too much of a difference. 215 to 225 is only 10mm, less than half inch

225/40/17 only come in racing slicks I believe. I have yet to find some street tires that size.

That size will make the speedo over read by another 2.2%. Why not fit 225/45-17 which are 1.3% bigger and will make the speedo more accurate?

I drive 225/45-17 PSS on 17x8" rims and am very happy with the overall performance; dry, wet, track, threadwear. For ultimate dry grip I would check out the new Dunlop ZII or go with the well proven Yohohama AD08. I think the ZII's will kick ass in the next tirerack test.

But the OP was looking for the stock rim, which is 17x7, not 17x8.

From this thread, it looks like going from 215 to 225 won't be too bad, but as some others have said, I would like to see some pics of these mounted.

Good thread because many of us will go this route for sound reasons.
I wish there were some pics of those sizes on the OEM rims to see what they look like fitted?

Thanks very much for the pic.
That looks like a very worthwhile increase in the actual contact area and it also looks a fit instead of being stretched.
From that pic 235/45-17 would be be too much for the 7" rims.

From the initial owners dislike of the OEM rims i've had many favourable comments, so i'm not in a rush to change them but the tyres are way below the requirements of this car.
